Abstract
PURPOSE:In descaling a stainless steel pipe using a solution of nitric acid and fluoric acid, to add a predetermined quantity of urea to said aqueous solution, thereby to enhance the descaling effect. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing 5 to 30% by weight of nitric acid and 1 to 20% by weight of fluoric acid is used, and the temperature of said aqueous solution is increased to a range of from 30 to 70 deg.C to descale a stainless steel pipe. In this case, 0.001 to 20% by weight of urea is added to said nitric acid and fluoric acid. By this procedure, the exfoliation of scales can be accelerated and the descaling time can be shortened.
