Abstract

PURPOSE:To display accurate directional patterns even when reflected waves are short and even when the responsiveness of the display device is poor by expanding the amplitude or waveform of the reflected signals from the reflectors for measurement of directional patterns with time. CONSTITUTION:The reflected waves having been transmitted in the specified directions are received again in ultrasonic vibrators Tl thru TN and the resultant electric signals are again supplied to delay circuits Dl thru DN, whereby they are given the same delay tiems as those at the time of transmission. Hence, the directivities of the transmission waves and reveiving waves coincide and the reflection from the object in the specified direction is made distinct. The reflection signals are combined and the combined signal is amplified with a logarithmic amplifier 14 and is detected in a detector 15, after which it is subjected to signal processing in a signal processing circuit 16 so that the directional patterns may be displayed. On the other hand, the output of a scanning control circuit 13 is supplied to a D A converter 17 and a saw tooth wave generating circuit 18. In the case of displaying the directional patterns, the output of the DA converter 17 and the output of the signal processing circuit 16 are respectively connected to the X-, Y-axis input terminals of a display device 19'.
