Abstract

PURPOSE: To heighten the velocity of propagation of flame, by injecting subsonic air or mixture into a combustion chamber to give high kinetic energy to the mixture in the combustion chamber and activate the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: An air nozzle 24 is provided at one end of a supersonic intake injection system 20 and is opened near an intake valve 4. The negative pressure of intake pipe corresponding to the degree of opening of a throttle valve 10 is applied to the tip of the nozzle 24. The injection system 20 has at the other end an intake outlet part 22, to which pressure almost equal to the atmospheric pressure is applied. The intake outlet port 22 and the nozzle 24 are coupled to each other through an intake passage 21. The injection system 20 is branched from the intake system. A part of air or mixture, which is sucked into the combustion chamber 7 through the intake system, is injected at a supersonic or subsonic speed through the supersonic intake injection system 20 by utilizing the presure difference between the front and rear of the nozzle 24 while the pat of air or mixture is measured by the nozzle. Thereby, high kinetic energy is given to the mixture in the combustion chamber 7. The propagation velocity of flame is heightened. The combustion is improved
