Abstract
PURPOSE: To carry out the optical resolution of the title compound useful as an intermediate o various compounds, easily, by precipitating an optically active isomer of the title compound from a racemic solution thereof in the presence of excess amount of the other optically active isomer having an optically active S atom.
CONSTITUTION: A racemic body of the title compound of formula (R1,2 are (substituted) aryl; R1 and R2 may form together with S a ring, provided that R1 and R2 are not same; R3 is hydrocarbon group), is dissolved in a solvent such as acetone by heating, stirring, etc., to obtain pref. a completely dissolved usually a supersaturated) solution. Seed of the other species of the optical active isomer, e.g. D- isomer, is added to the solution, and left to stand. The D-isomer is precipitated by cooling or heating the solution, if necessary. The pecipitate is removed from the solution, and a small amount of the racemic body of the title compound is added to the resiclual solution and dissolued. Seed of L-isomer is added to the solution and L- isomer is precipitated by th procedure described above. D-isomer and L-isomer can be alternately obtained by repeating the procedures
