Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve welding workability, by obtaining deep weld penetration by irradiating laser to a surface to be connected of a portion material with high m.p. and by melting and bonding the surface to be connected. CONSTITUTION:When connecting an electrode portion of a xenon lamp, a supporting bar 2 in W, etc. is inserted into a concave groove 1b of an electrode 1 in metal with high m.p., such as, W, etc. A fitting porion 5 is melted and bonded by irradiating laser rays from a laser oscillator 3 to the portion 5 in a non-oxidation atmosphere, thus connecting both. This method ensures excellent connection because it can apply for W, Mo or these alloy and can focus energy to minute points. This methd can also weld large scale portion materials, wire rods, etc. in excellent workability.
