Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the desulfurization yield of CaC2 by mixing a CaC2 type desulfurizing agent with a mixt. of dust from a CaC2 producing electric furnace and carbon powder as a dusulfurization accelerator. CONSTITUTION:40-80wt% of finely divided CaC2 is mixed with 60-20 wt% of a mixt. of dust from a CaC2 producing electric furnace and carbon powder as a desulfurization accelerator. The dust is fine powder collected from the furnace and a mixt. of CaO, SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, coke breeze, etc. The carbon powder is finely divided graphite, coal, coke, etc. of 210mu or below in diameter. The mixing ratio of the dust:carbon powder is 90:10-60:40. In case the resulting duslfurizing agent is used in a torpedo car top blowing desulfurization system and the agent with strong reducing power is added to hot iron at a constant rate, the CaC2 content can be reduced without lowering the desulfurization rate. Accordingly, the desulfurization efficiency, that is, desulfurization yield of the CaC2 is enhanced.
