Abstract

PURPOSE: To calibrate the electromagnetic flow meter to be calibrated while being held mounted to flow line and increase its SN ratio by providing two pairs of electrodes on the upstream side and downstream side of flow piping and obtaining flow rates from the correlations of the field signals generated between the respective electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: Magnets 31 are so disposed as to hold a steel made flow piping 30 in-between from both sides, and magnetic fields are applied in the direction perpendicular to the flow piping 30. Two pairs of electrodes 32a, 32c, 32b, 32c are disposed in zigzag form as a whole by leaving the same constant distance in the flow line direction, perpendicularly in the magnetic field direction to this flow piping 30. Here, when the electromagnetic flow meter is used as an ordinary electromagnetic flow meter, the electromotive voltages generated in either pair of the electrodes on the upstream side and downstream side are detected and the meter is operated as an ordinary electromagnetic flow meter. To calibrate the meter, the respective electromotive voltages between the electrodes 32a, 32c, 32b, 32d are detected. and the flow rates of radial components are detected. The above enable the need for exclusive calibration equipment to be eliminated and calibraion characteristics of high accuracy to be obtained
