Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a quick and high-reliability detection for the fault through a simple constitution by detecting the output terminal voltage of the switching element via the voltage detector of the pulse transformer or the like and then controlling the other switching element.
CONSTITUTION: When the voltage between the collector and the emitter of switching element 3 is turned on and off by the control of detector 4, pulse transformer 8 delivers the pulse voltage at the rise and fall parts of the voltage between the collector and the emitter of element 3. The positive pulse voltage switches transistor Tr11 on to discharge the electric charge of capacitor 13. In case elememt 3 is normal, the voltage stored in capacitor 13 is discharged repetitively by the output of transformer 8 and via Tr11. However, if element 3 is short-circuited or opened, transformer delivers no pulse voltage. As a result, Tr11 is never switched on. And when the charging voltage of capacitor 13 rises up to reach the reference level, UJT14 operates to dirve relay 15 with contact 16 closed. Thus the fault signal of element 3 is detected at detector 17.
