Abstract
PURPOSE:To compensate for wear of an electrode by accurately detecting gap between the electrode and a work with a work-electrode gas detecting circuit so that the gap can be adjusted by shifting the electrode. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 3, facing a work 4, is moved up and down by an electrode shifting device 5, and a pulse is generated by a pulse generator 6 every constant length of the shifting distance in linking with the electrode shifting device 5. The gap between the works 4 and the electrode 3 is detected by a work-electrode gap detecting circuit 7, that is, a work-electrode gap voltage is detected when it has gone down to a level of gap voltage set in advance by adjusting it to a prescribed gap, and the electrode shifting device 5 lowers the electrode 3 through a U/D (Up-and-Down) counter 8 and a work-feeding control circuit 13 so as to compensate for the gap.
