Abstract

PURPOSE:To make practicable sliding fitting of a set oil ring to a groove at piston side easily and rapidly without need for skills and also to make practicable perfect automation in slidingly fitting a set oil ring to the groove. CONSTITUTION:A rail ring 73 at the lower side of a set oil ring 7 is expanded against its elasticity to a diameter greater than an outer diameter D of a piston 1 so as to fit temporarily to the outer periphery of the piston below an oil ring groove 4. Then, a ring 72 is expanded in diameter to fit slidingly to the groove 4. A rail ring 71 at the upper side is also expanded in diameter, pushing up, by means of a member 9, the ring 73 temporarily fitted to a gap alpha1 between the upper plane of the ring 72 fitted to the groove and the lower plane of the groove 4 to drop the ring 73 to a gap alpha2 between the ring 72 and the groove 4. Thus, the sliding fitting of the set ring is easily and rapidly achieved, and perfect automation of the sliding fitting is made capable.
