Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent intrusion of fine ore particles into a nozzle and improve excavation efficiency by water jet by providing a piston connected with a valve body inside the nozzle and ensuring that an opening is opened only when high-pressure water is jetted.
CONSTITUTION: In a jet nozzle 1 is fitted a valve body 6 which plugs up an opening for preventing the intrusion of fine iron ore powder slurry through the opening 10. The valve body 6 is integral with a piston 7 at the rear end through a shaft 5, and the opening is opened and closed by the reciprocation of the piston 7 inside the boltlike cylinder A. The piston 7 is connected with a bearing supporter plate 4 through a spring 8. In off-excavation time, the opening is plugged up by the function of the spring 8. In excavation time, high-pressure water is fed into the nozzle so as to drive the piston 7 back and spout a water jet. The plate 4 projects inwardly from slightly slanted corner portion 1C and supports a bearing 3 concentrically.
