Abstract

PURPOSE: To discharge combustion gas depending on the running condition of a two-cycle engine, by controlling the time of opening and closing of a rotary exhaust valve depending on the discharge pressure of cooling water.
CONSTITUTION: Cooling water passages 6, 6' fitted with a water pump P is connected through a bypass 11" to an end face of a piston 13 slidably fitted in a driver B. A rod 13' is fixed to the piston 13. The rotary exhaust valve 2, which is installed at an exhaust port 1 opened into a cylinder (a), is swung by the rod 13' through levers 18, 19. The rotary valve 2 normally opens or closes the exhaust port in connection with the rotation of the engine. The time of opening and closing of the valve 2 is altered depending on the discharge pressure of the cooling water, which is applied to the end face of the piston 13 through the bypass 11.
