Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable effective treatment of water by applying discharge shock waves to the treated water so as to kill microbes in the water by shock and combining this process with a later action of a filter means.
CONSTITUTION: The charge on a capacitor 6 charged to a predetermined voltage is repeatedly discharged between discharge electrodes 5 faced to each other in water by open-close control of a discharge starter switch 8 so as to generate intermittent shock waves. The shock waves kill the microbes, bacteria, and the like in the treated water 2 to clarify the latter. Due to the shock treatment, dead bodies of microbes and the like mix in the water and the tip end of discharge electrodes 5 dissolves little by little in the form of metal fine particles, ions, and colloid. The impure matter is effectively filtered off by directing the water into a filter 9 via an inlet port 10, passing the water through an electric field between electrodes 12 and passing it through a filter element 14.
