Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the pad from being damaged by probe needle, by providing conductive protection film on the junction pad.
CONSTITUTION: The Al junction pad about 1 μm thick is formed on the PSG protective film 10 of the Si substrate 8, and the circumference of the pad is coated with SiO2 11. Further, the Al film 12, 2 to 3 μm thick is placed on the pad 9. With this constitution, even if the probe needle 13 is strongly contacted with the pad, it only touches to the thick Al film 12 partly and does not reaches the film 10. Accordingly, the yield rate of probing can be increased.
