Abstract
PURPOSE:To simultaneously manufacture plural number of deformed composite rods suitable for the material of electric contact, by rolling the composite metallic rod prepared through the pressure welding of dissimilar metals, using the roll provided with plural number of grooves of specified shape. CONSTITUTION:The faying interface of the metallic rod 1A (a material like as gold, platinum, etc., superior in the electric contact characteristic and the corrosion resistance), the metallic rod 1B (iron, Mo, etc.), and the metallic rod 1C (copper, Ni, etc., to be the parent metal), is cleaned, and after that, one or several passes of rolling are carried out by flat rolls 4, 4, forming a composite metallic rod 5. Next, this rod 5 is annealed if necessary, and then, is rolled by flat roll 6 and roll 7 which is provided with plural number of longitudinal grooves 8 whose semicircle section is approximately equal to the finishing shape of the product; hereby, plural number of deformed composite rods 3 with semicircle section are simultaneously formed. Above rod 3 is superior in the electric contact characteristic and the corrosion resistance, because the metallic rod 1A covers entire circular arc surface. Two or four layers are also possible, and the shape of rods can be arbitrarily selected.
