Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve performance, by reducing cascade losses by mounting each cascade so that the wake of the outlets of stator blades or moving blades be located at the optimum rotary direction positions of the next stage stator blades or moving blades.
CONSTITUTION: The wake 2 of stator blades 3 moves as wake loci 4 at sight of the absolute system and collides with the next stage stator blades 3. The wake 2 from moving blades moves as wake loci 6 at sight of the relative system and collides with the next stage moving blades 5. A distance x that the wake 2 from stator blades 3 shifts in the rotary direction until the wake 2 reaches the next stage stator blades 3 is calculated, and slippage A in the both rotary directions in the case when the wake 2 from preceding stator blades 3 collides with the front edges of latter stage stator blades 3 is x-np+B(n=an integer) from the distance x. That is, when the number of stator blades is equal at adjacent stages, losses become tha smallest if slippage in the both rotary directions is brought to A.
