Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the length of the polarizer and thus to realize a compact structure by providing the mode blocking part and then arranging the two polarization terminals within the same plane. CONSTITUTION:Input EH wave is reflected by mode blocking part 4 and then taken out by polarization terminal 2. For the EV wave, orthogonal components EV1 and EV2 are divided in consideration. The mode blocking part to EV consists of two orthogonal parts, and blocking part 7 is positioned forward by 1/4 lambdah. Wave EV1 enters and is then relected at part 7. At the same time, wave EV2 is reflected at blocking part 8 and shifted by 1/2lambdag after going and coming back since part 8 is located with the phase difference of 1/4lambdag. Thus, the wave compounded by refleced EV2 and EV1 is the wave which is obtained by turning original EV by 90 degrees. As a result, wave EV is reflected at part 4 to be then taken out from terminal 6.
