Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a plastic molded article such as bathtub, etc., having desired patterns, by using a patterned cloth composed of polyester filament yarns as one of the weft and the warp, and polyester spun yarn as the other, and interposing a plastic sheet between the mold and the cloth.
CONSTITUTION: A woven cloth 3 composed of plyester filament yarns as one of the weft and warp, and polyester spun yarns as the other, and printed with desired patterns, is placed on a hot male mold heated below the melting point of the patterned cloth 3, and pref. having a covering layer of a bag-shaped surface mat 6. An FRP sheet molding compund 4 is placed thereon, and pressed with a female mold 2 to obtain a patterned plastic molded article, e.g. bathtub, leasure boat, tank, small container, etc. The adhesivity between the cloth and the polyester resin, the strength of the patterned cloth, and the durability of the molded article can be improved by this molding method.
