Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a bluish green luminous phosphor the luminous power of which is further enhanced by substituting Ce and/or Tb for part of the alkaline earth metals of a divalent Eu-activated alkaline earth metal borophosphate phosphor.
CONSTITUTION: A phosphor of this invention has a chemical compsn. formula represented by formula I, wherein Me is Ce and/or Tb, 0≤x≤0.5, 0≤y≤0.2, 0<z≤0.10, 0.001≤p≤0.15, 1.75≤m≤2.30 and 0.05≤n≤0.23. The phosphor is excited with ultraviolet rays of short and long wavelengths, blue visible radiation and cathode-rays to emit highly efficient bluish green luminescence the max. wavelength of which is 480W490 mn. This phosphor is synthesized as follows: Ca, Sr and Ba carbonates, secondary phosphate, (NH4)2HPO4, H3BO3, CeO2, Tb4O7, Eu2O3, etc. are mixed charged into a ceramic crucible, and calcined in an electric furnace kept under a reducing atmosphere at about 1000W1250°C for a fixed time.
