Abstract

PURPOSE: To preferably burn dilute mixture gas in a fuel injection type internal combustion engine by forming a combustion chamber to which air is tangetially introduced from squish area in the vicinity of completion of compression stroke of a piston for laminar combustion.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided a fuel injection nozzle 1 and an ignition plug 11 at a cylinder head 1 of a fuel injection type internal combustion engine. There are formed an annular partition wall 7 around a piston 3 and a vortex chamber 6 at the center thereof. A plurality of radial injection slots 8 are formed on the wall 7. Thus, the air in a combustion chamber 4 is introduced in vortex state into a vortex chamber 6 through the slots 8 at the compression stroke of the piston. Injection nozzle 10 is disposed at the position opposite to the vortex to improve the mixture of injected fuel and the air. The plug 11 is disposed at the center of the vortex for exact ignition of the mixture gas.
