Abstract

PURPOSE: To reinforce the interior wall of a piping in situ and thereby to prevent leakage, by forming a filament-reinforced thermosetting resin cylinder closely fitted to the interior wall of a laid piping.
CONSTITUTION: An elestomeric tube 1 is covered with a filament layer 2 impregnated with a thermosetting resin. The covered tube 1 is contracted and inserted in a laid piping 3. After the space between the tube 1 and piping 3 and the interior of the tube 1 are evacuated, pressurized air is fed into the tube 1 so that the tube 1 expands and the filament layer 2 contacts closely the interior wall of the piping 3. The resin is heated above its primary transition temperature to convert the filament layer 2 into a clylinder closely fitted to the interior of the piping 3. Horning and washing of the piping 3 in advance improves adherence of the shaped filament- reinforced resin to the interior wall of the piping 3.
