Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit a reasonable control for thyristor group by making a cascade connection of plural thyristors on the DC output side so that the DC output voltage of thyristor is not rapidly changed immediately after part of the thyristor group is switched to by-pass pair operation.
CONSTITUTION: A cascade connection is made for the plural thyristor groups TH1 and TH2 on the DC side and thereby the ignition phase of thyristor in the thyristor groups is separately controlled to supply DC voltage to the load L. By applying the detected voltage Vo corresponding to the DC output voltage Vdc to the current controller 11, the signal e3 corresponding to the deviation ei between the current standard signal i0 and the current detected signal i1 is applied to the thyristor through the gat pulse distributor 5 when a switching command for by-pass pair operation is applied, and thus the rapid change of the output voltage Vdc can be prevented. For this reason, the detected voltage Vo corresponding to the output voltage Vdc is applied to the terminal T1 and the early value is set up to the DC output voltage immediately before the application of the switching command BPP.
