Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the subject product by causing halides of Zr or Hf, H2 and CO to react at a high temperature with a superhard alloy consisting of carbide (nitride) or carbonitrides belonging to group IVa'Va or VIa of the periodic table and Fe CO Ni, thereby to obtain a product for use in cutting, having a thin coated layer excellent in wear resistance.
