Description of the Related Art In recent years, hollow members having different cross-sectional shapes in the longitudinal direction can be lightened by, for example, optimally setting the strength at each portion in the longitudinal direction according to the cross-sectional shape. There is a tendency to be used as an alloy frame or a swing arm that supports the rear wheels. FIG. 8 to FIG.
It is a figure for explaining the conventional manufacturing method for manufacturing the swing arm of the motorcycle which is one kind of such a hollow member. For example, when manufacturing the swing arm, first, a cylindrical material W0 having a constant cross-sectional shape as shown in FIG. 8 is prepared, and its outer peripheral surface is externally cut in consideration of the final shape after molding. Next, as in the first intermediate molded body W1 in FIG. 9, the left and right portions are subjected to RSW (rotary swaging) and finishing so as to reduce the diameter, and then the residual stress is removed by annealing.

Thereafter, the intermediate molded body W2 is put into a mold T having a recess having a product shape as shown in FIG. 12, and the inside of the intermediate molded body W2 is pressurized and bulge-processed, as shown in FIGS. Then, the third intermediate formed body W3 is formed. And
By cutting the cylindrical portions at both ends of the intermediate molded body W3 as shown by a two-dot chain line in FIGS. 13 and 14,
A swing arm as a product is manufactured.

Many work steps such as partial cutting are required, so a lot of labor is required for manufacturing including setup change, and since it is processed into the desired shape exclusively by plastic deformation, it is frequently annealed to remove residual stress And from this viewpoint, there is a problem that much labor and equipment are required. In addition, in order to obtain a rectangular product whose cross section changes in the longitudinal direction by plastic deformation from a cylindrical material having a constant thickness, it is extremely difficult to obtain a desired thickness at each part. there were.

This will be described with reference to FIG. The present embodiment is an application example as a method for manufacturing a swing arm made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy in a motorcycle. First,
A schematic configuration of a manufacturing apparatus used in this manufacturing method will be described with reference to FIGS. In FIG. 1, reference numeral 1 denotes a container in which a storage hole 1A for an aluminum billet (molding material) is formed in a vertical direction in the figure, and 2 denotes a hollow stem which is moved by a ram 3 in the vertical direction in the figure. When the hollow stem 2 moves into the storage hole 1A, the billet in the storage hole 1A is pushed downward in FIG. On the lower side of the container 1 in FIG. 1, a variable cross-section extrusion die 10 forming the outer peripheral surface of the die hole 10A is provided. The variable cross-section extrusion die 10 of the present embodiment includes a pair of first die structures 11 located in the left-right direction in FIGS. 1 and 2.
A, 11B, and second die components 12A, 12B located in the front and back directions (vertical direction in FIG. 2) of the paper surface in FIG. 1, and the second die components 12A, 12B.
2B is a downstream side of the first die components 11A and 11B in the billet extrusion direction, that is, the first die components 11A and 11B.
1A and 11B are arranged to be shifted downward in FIG.

Is moved in the up-down direction by the driving device 5.
The base end of the mandrel 6 located in the hollow portion of the hollow stem 2 is attached to the mounting plate 4, and the tip of the mandrel 6 has a rectangular cross section, and the sectional shape gradually decreases toward the distal end. It has a quadrangular pyramid shape. Therefore, the side surface 6A at the tip of the mandrel 6 is a tapered surface. Therefore, when the tip of the mandrel 6 is located in the die hole 10A, the hollow member can be extruded, and the cross-sectional shape of the hollow portion of the hollow member is the tip of the mandrel 6 located in the die hole 10A. This corresponds to the cross-sectional shape of the portion, that is, the outer peripheral shape of the portion of the mandrel 6 located in the die hole 10A. The tip portion of the mandrel 6 located in the die hole 10A is displaced in accordance with the vertical movement of the mandrel 6.

At this time, the first die components 11A, 11B and the second die components 12A, 12B are moved, and the mandrel 6 is moved by the driving device 5, and the inner surface of the die hole 10A is moved by the former movement. The shape is changed, and the outer shape of the mandrel 6 located in the die hole 10A is changed by the latter movement. Thus, the die hole 10
By changing the shape of the inner peripheral surface of A and the shape of the outer peripheral surface of the mandrel 6, a swing arm material (hollow material) W11 of a motorcycle having a shape as shown in FIGS. 3 to 7 can be extruded. The outer peripheral shape of the swing arm material W11 corresponds to the inner peripheral shape of the die hole 10A, and the inner peripheral shape corresponds to the outer peripheral shape of the mandrel 6.
When the swing arm material W11 of this example is extruded from the right or left in FIGS. 3 and 4, the inner peripheral shape of the die hole 10A and the outer peripheral shape of the mandrel 6 are relatedly changed. By doing so, the thickness of each part is made constant as shown in FIGS.

The inside of 11 is pressurized and bulged. This bulging process can be performed in the same manner as in the above-described conventional example shown in FIG. By this bulge processing, the swing arm material W
Numeral 11 bulges along the inner surface of the product-shaped mold, and, for example, its corners are formed into a predetermined round shape to form a swing arm as a product. Therefore, according to the above manufacturing method, the number of working steps can be significantly reduced, particularly as compared with the conventional hollow member manufacturing method, and
An annealing step for removing residual stress is not required, and as a result, manufacturing is easy and the manufacturing cost can be significantly reduced. In addition, the dimensional accuracy can be improved, and the wall thickness can be freely changed to set a reasonable cross-sectional shape.

A method of manufacturing a hollow member for manufacturing a hollow member having a different cross-sectional shape in a longitudinal direction, wherein a cross-section of the die hole is extruded while extruding a molding material from a die hole into which a tip of a mandrel is inserted. By changing at least one of the shape and the cross-sectional shape of the tip of the mandrel located in the die hole, the outer peripheral surface shape corresponds to the inner peripheral surface shape of the die hole, and the inner peripheral surface shape is A method for manufacturing a hollow member, comprising: extruding a hollow material corresponding to the shape of the outer peripheral surface of a mandrel, then placing the hollow material in a mold, and then pressurizing the inside of the hollow material to form a bulge. .
