On the other hand, the organic EL element injects electrons and holes into the light emitting portion from the electron injection electrode and the hole injection electrode, respectively, and recombines the thus injected electrons and holes at the light emission center. The molecule is set in an excited state, and emits fluorescence when the organic molecule returns from the excited state to the ground state.

Deterioration of the characteristics is reduced, the environmental resistance and reliability of the organic EL element are improved, and crystallization of the organic material used for the light emitting layer and the like which is composed of an amorphous metal and is used by the electron injection electrode is suppressed. As a result, a short circuit or the like in the organic EL element is reduced, and stable light emission can be performed for a long time.

In each of the organic EL devices, when a voltage is applied with the hole injection electrode 12 being positive and the electron injection electrode 16 being negative, the voltage is 14 V and the current density is 300 mA / cm 2.
As a result, light was emitted from rubrene, which had a maximum luminance of 8000 cd / m 2 and had high luminance.

Metal layer 16a
Each of the organic EL devices of Examples 1 and 2 provided with the electron injection electrode 16 made of an amorphous metal made of Fe 80 B 20 has a smaller decrease in brightness after continuous light emission for three months. In particular, in the organic EL device of Example 1 in which the thickness of the metal layer 16a is set to 40 nm or less, the crystallization of the organic material in the electron transport layer 15 and the like is suppressed, and the light emission after continuous light emission for three months is obtained. The decrease in brightness was smaller.
