BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to toothbrushes, and more particularly to cleaning between adjacent teeth and the gingival boundary region.
An improved toothbrush with a three-dimensional bristle contour.
Description of the prior art
Use of toothbrush and dental floss to maintain good oral hygiene
These are the basic steps. Unfortunately, using dental floss
, Not widely accepted by the general public. In addition, sometimes dental floss
The user cannot perform proper flossing in the area behind the mouth. Therefore, the teeth
Cleaning along areas where the toothbrush is hard to reach, such as the flesh border and interdental areas
The importance of providing improved brushes has become even greater. Unfortunately,
Most commercially available toothbrushes clean the buccal outer surface of teeth, but the gingival area
, Remove plaque and food waste from the interproximal region and the mouth region where the toothbrush is hard to reach.
You can't improve what you do.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to one aspect of the invention, a toothbrush that cleans the interproximal and gingival boundaries.
Will be provided. Toothbrush has an elongated handle connected to the head member of the toothbrush
Have members. The head is divided into two areas. Is the toe area a handle?
The part of the head farthest from the heel area is the head part closest to the handle.
Is defined as A number of bristles extend from the heel area of the head.
Has a recessed shape aligned in the longitudinal direction when viewed from the side. As many
A number of bristles extend from the toe region of the head and extend from the toe portion of the head.
The bristles that are present have a height of the bristles extending from the heel portion when viewed from the side.
Is at least as high as, and the side profile of the tip of the bristles extending from the toe part is
Forming a substantially rectilinear surface, said rectilinear plane being a rigid surface extending from the heel.
From the edge of the toe part far from the heel part with respect to the overall plane of the bristles,
Predetermined angle inclined from about 0 ° to about 45 ° to the edge of the toe near the heel
Form a degree.
Brief description of the drawings
This specification concludes with claims that particularly point out and distinctly claim the invention.
However, the present invention relates to the accompanying drawings in which the same reference numerals are used for the same parts.
Can be better understood from the following description of some specific preferred embodiments that are carried out.

Description of the preferred embodiment
As shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the preferred embodiment of the present invention provides a clearance between adjacent teeth.
Can be combined with aging to provide improved cleaning of the gingival border
A toothbrush indicated by reference numeral 10. Toothbrush is elongated as a whole
It has a handle member 12, a head member 14 and a number of bristles 16. Normal hand
And the head member are made of the same material as a single injection molded part.
However, it is also possible to manufacture from multiple materials. In addition, handles and heads
The portion is due to a neck portion 18 having a smaller cross section than the handle 12 or head 14.
Are combined.
The head portion of the toothbrush of the present invention is formed of two parts. Toe part
20 is the distal end of the handle portion
Is the part of the head that is located at. On the other hand, the heel portion 22 has a
This is the part of the head that is located near the end of the handle.
A feature of the invention is the special shape of the distal ends of these bristles. This shape
Is achieved by bristle shapes with different heights in the area of the heel 22 and toe 20
, Therefore, the various bristle shapes, as illustrated by FIGS. 1, 2 and 3,
The desired result is achieved and is considered by the present invention.
Figures 4, 5, 6 and 7 are end views of the heel portion 22 of the toothbrush according to the present invention.
is there. As previously mentioned, the bristles 24 in the heel region are of a longitudinally aligned, concave shape.
It features a groove shape 28. Preferably, this concave shape is "V" as shown in FIG.
It has a shape. However, the individual tufts must also be "U" shaped (see Figure 5) and
It is also contemplated by the present invention to form a stepped "V" shape.
FIG. 6 is a perspective view of a preferred groove cut 28 using the “V” shape of FIG.
is there. The toe bristles 30 are shown removed. Preferably, the groove is about 1/16
Inches (1.56 mm) to about 3/16 inches (4.68 mm)
) Must be cut to form an angle β. The depth and width of the groove 28 are
, Is generally uniform along the length of the heel portion 22 in the longitudinal direction.
FIG. 7 shows another groove cut using the “V” shape of FIG.
FIG. The toe bristles 30 have been removed to reveal
It is shown. The depth and width of the groove 28 is uniform along the length of the heel portion 22 in the longitudinal direction.
I'm not sure. The depth and width decrease as the groove 28 approaches the handle 12,
The head 22 is inclined upward with respect to the surface of the heel portion.
6 and 7 show another preferred embodiment. Deepen from the shallow part, and further
Other slopes such as shallower cuts are also contemplated by the present invention. Heel
As shown in FIG. 12, the groove cutting portion 28 cleans the gingiva along the boundary portion 34 of the gingiva.
Proved to be particularly suitable for
Figures 8, 9 and 10 are side views of the toothbrush head of Figures 1, 2 and 3.
These figures show the bristles of the heel portion 24 of the brush and the bristles of the toe portion 30 of the head.
It is particularly useful in illustrating the relationship between and. Shape made by the distal end of the bristles
It should be noted that this is an important characteristic of the present invention. Figures 8, 9 and 10
In the side view, when viewed from the side
A good "tilt toe" is observed. This joint forms an angle φ, which is
About 0 ° to about 45 °, preferably about 10 ° to about 25 °. This tow has teeth
Bring the bristles further deeply into the interproximal region 32 along the spine (see FIG. 11)
.
Figures 8, 9 and 10 are similar using different methods.
Form the shape of the tip of the bristles. In Figure 8, the toe 20 and heel of the head
22 form the same common plane. However, the bristles 30 of the toe 20 are
The length increases as they approach the distal end of the brush. In FIG. 9, tow
The planes of 20 and heel 22 are also substantially the same plane. However, the tip of the bristles
The end angle φ is determined by inserting the tufts of bristles into the toe part of the head at a predetermined angle.
Formed. The angle φ is greater than or less than the angle of the toe bristles holes
is there. Because the tips of the bristles can be individually modified. last
Fig. 10 shows the toothbrush head at the predetermined angle of about α at the toe and heel joint.
An angle is provided at the tip of the bristles by bending. Preferably, the obtuse angle α bends
About 115 ° to about 170 °, and most preferably about 155 ° to about 170 °.
It is ゜. These and other techniques are used to create the bristles of the present invention.
Can be used for
The bristles of the present invention enter the space between adjacent teeth sufficiently to allow plaque and eating
Must be stiff enough to remove debris and not penetrate the gingival boundary.
If you can't remove food residue and plaque without irritating or bleeding,
I won't. Bristles with rounded ends are preferred.
Conventional bristle materials can be used in the present invention
It Nylon and polyester are preferred as bristle materials. In addition,
When using iron bristles, the toe bristles have a height of about 9.52 to 13.5.
0 mm (about 12/32 to about 17/32 inch) and heel bristles
Has a height of about 6.35 to 11.11 millimeters (about 8/32 to about 14/3
2 inches).
While particular embodiments of the present invention have been shown and described, modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the invention.
It can be performed. For example, the heel groove may extend into the toe region.
Therefore, the present invention includes all embodiments within the scope of the claims.
