Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the durability against puncture and the dispersion of the same between tires by forming the extension of a carcass ply extending along a meniscus-like rubber reinforcing layer to a position in which the carcass ply laps over a belt layer on the winding-up end of the carcass ply. CONSTITUTION: A pneumatic radial tire consisting of a fiber cord radial ply has a carcass 4 disposed so that both ends are fixedly wound up to the axial side around a bead ring 8 and a rubber reinforcing layer 7 with the meniscus- like section for sharing and supporting a load is provided inside a side wall 3. The carcass ply is formed on the winding-up end 4' with an extension part 12 extending along the meniscus-like rubber reinforcing layer 7 to a position in which it laps on a belt layer 5 so that the tip 13 of the extension part is sandwiched between the carcass 4 and belt layer 5. Thus, the excellent antipuncture durability performance having satisfactory traveling antipuncture property and small dispersion of the same is provided.

Among these, a rubber reinforcing layer having a crescent-shaped cross section is provided on the inner peripheral surface of the carcass of the side wall having the lowest rigidity in the tire, as a simple and effective measure particularly for radial tires for passenger cars. A so-called side-reinforced run-flat tire is provided with a lining, in this case, by arranging the thickest part of the rubber reinforcing layer in the central part of the side wall so that the entire side wall has a substantially uniform thickness and rigidity is imparted. It is common. This side-reinforced run-flat tire is intended to support the load mainly at the internal pressure when the internal pressure is normal, and to support the load on the shoulder by the inherent rigidity of the reinforced side wall at the time of puncture. The main points will be explained using.

The upper tire 1 shown in Fig. 2 has a cylindrical crown portion 2 and side walls 3 connected in a toroidal shape, and two fiber cord radial plies are provided from one side wall 3 to the other side wall 3. And the tread 6 are sequentially arranged on the outer circumference of the crown portion of the carcass 4 to reinforce the carcass 4, and the inner circumference of the carcass of the side wall 2 is also reinforced. The surface is provided with a rubber reinforcing layer 7 having a crescent-shaped cross section.

According to a detailed study by the inventor of this point, the variation in height on the circumference of the winding end 9 position of the carcass ply, which occurs during tire production, is greatly related to the fluctuation of the side wall rigidity. I found out.
The side wall 3 is a structure composed of the rubber reinforcing layer 7, the carcass 4, its ply winding end 4 ′, the outer rubber 10, etc., and the height of the ply winding end 9 among these reinforcing members, Alternatively, it is difficult to control the width of the ply-winding-up end portion 4 ′ evenly and uniformly during tire production. Therefore, as long as the structure of the ply winding end portion shown in FIG. And the ply winding tip
Since 9 is in direct contact with the outer rubber, which has significantly different physical properties, when there is rigidity fluctuation in the side wall, stress concentrates near the ply winding tip in the low rigidity part during puncture running, resulting in excessive heat generation. This causes blowout and / or peeling failure of the reinforcing layer 7 and shortens the running life. The above variations do not affect the life of the tire when the tire is driven by the internal pressure.

The tire according to the present invention is provided with a rubber reinforcing layer having a crescent-shaped cross section for supporting the load on the inner peripheral surface of the radial arc of the side wall, and the carcass ply winding-up end has a crescent-shaped rubber reinforcing layer. The structural feature is that an extension is formed along the layer so as to extend to a position where it overlaps with the belt layer. When the carcass is composed of one ply, the winding end of the ply is not located in the side wall, and when the carcass is composed of a plurality of plies, it is By forming an extension that extends to at least one side, particularly the outer rubber side to a position where it overlaps with the belt layer, the ply winding tip is separated from the outer rubber and the puncture durability is extended. At the same time, it is possible to advantageously reduce variations in durability due to variations in rigidity on the circumference of the side wall.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the radially inner end portion of the crescent-shaped rubber reinforcing layer 7 disposed on the inner peripheral surface of the carcass 4 composed of two plies has a bead ring 8 upper cover. One made of hard rubber disposed between the scrap 4 and its winding end 4 ', and overlapping with the bead filler 11 and the carcass 4 which taper outwardly in the radial direction. , The outer radial end is also the same as the end 5'of the belt layer.

With respect to the two carcass ply winding end portions 4 ', the tip 9 of the inner end portion is stopped above the bead filler 11 slightly near the bead ring 8 from the center of the side wall 3. The outer winding end 4 ′ has an extension 12 extending beyond this position, the tip 13 of which is sandwiched between the end 5 ′ of the belt layer and the carcass 4. In such a structure, one end of the carcass ply winding end 4 '
Even if 9 is stopped inside the side wall 3, that part is clamped between the carcass 4 and the extension 12 of the winding end, and the tip 13 of the extension 12 is at the tip 13 of the carcass 4 and the belt layer. Since it is sandwiched between 5 and 5, it is possible to effectively suppress the influence on the run-flat running due to the positional variation of the ply hoisting tip 9, which cannot be avoided in tire manufacturing.

The winding tip 9 that stops in the side wall 3 shown in FIG.
When extended to the position where 5 and the carcass 4 overlap,
It is a further advantage that the problems resulting from the tire manufacturing are eliminated. Further, the tip 13 of the extension 12 is preferably extended to a position beyond the upper end of the rubber reinforcing layer 7, and the overlap amount between the end 5'of the belt layer and the winding end extension 12 is 10 to 10.
A range of 30 mm is preferred. Reference numeral 14 is an air impermeable inner liner arranged on the entire inner surface of the tire.
