The above-mentioned optical card is an optically detectable recording pit sequence that is modulated according to the recording information and is scanned by a recording track preset on the card with a light beam focused on minute spots. Information is recorded. At this time, in order to accurately record information without causing trouble such as crossing of recording pit rows, the irradiation position of the light beam is controlled in a direction perpendicular to the scanning direction (auto tracking, hereinafter referred to as AT Need to). In addition, focus control (autofocusing, hereinafter referred to as AF) was also performed in order to accurately focus the light beam on the card. Therefore, in order to obtain the tracking signal and the focusing signal from the recording track, the modulated light beam is set to have a predetermined power such that writing is not performed on the card even at the minimum level. It was Further, when the recorded information is reproduced, the above-mentioned recording pit row is scanned with a light beam having a constant power level at which the information is not written on the optical card.

FIG. 3 is a diagram for explaining the power of the light beam on the optical card during recording and reproduction, (A) during recording and (B) during reproduction, respectively. Further, the horizontal axis of the figure shows the position on the track, and the vertical axis shows the optical power P. At the time of recording, the light beam is in the scanning range E W corresponding to the data recording area as shown in (A),
The recording pit is not formed and the minimum power P required to obtain the tracking signal and the focusing signal.
The optical card is always illuminated by WL . Then, according to the recording signal, it is modulated with the power P WH required for recording, and the recording pit is formed only on the portion irradiated with the power P WH . Further, during reproduction, the light beam is emitted at a constant power P R where the recording pits are not formed in the scanning range E R , and the above-mentioned recording pits are read.

Here, the recording sensitivity S of the normal optical card is determined by the irradiation power P of the light beam and the irradiation time T. Therefore, when the spot of the light beam is scanned from 6 2 to 6 1 at the relative velocity V as shown in FIG. 4, if the spot diameter is φ, V is φ / T or more and recording is not performed. However, as described above, when the light beam is standing by in a stationary state, if this state continues for a long time, even if the optical power is R WL or P R as described above, it is erroneously recorded. In the present invention, the intensity of the light beam on the medium is reduced during such non-recording and reproducing operations.

In the above-described embodiment, an example of setting the intensity of the light beam is shown. For example, the beam spot diameter is 5 μm, the recording scanning relative velocity V W = 50 mm / S, the reproduction scanning relative velocity V R = 500 mm / S, and Assuming that the relationship between the beam intensity P and the writing time T is: P = 5 mW, T S = 100 μS P = 1 mW, T S = 1S P = 0.2 mW, T S = ∞ Strength of spots S 2 a and S 2 b is P WH = 5m
W, P WL = 1mW. Here, if the intensity ratio between the center spot and the spots at both ends (the ratio is constant when using a diffraction grating) is 5: 1, the strengths of the spots S 3 a and S 3 b are respectively
It becomes 1mW and 0.2mW. Here, 0.2 mW is set to an intensity sufficient to obtain a tracking signal. Limiting relative velocity of 1 mW light beam V L = φ / T S = 5 μm / S, so V W during operation
(Or V R )> V L, and recording is not performed with a light beam of 1 mW or less. Also, the above-mentioned T C is 1 second, and P S is 0.2 m.
If it is set to W, the strength of this spot S 2 c will drop to 0.2 mW before the spot S 2 c is recorded on the auxiliary track 9 and it will not be erroneously written. If P R = 1 mW, it is exactly the same during playback.

As described above, according to the present invention, the intensity of the light beam is reduced during non-operation in which the light beam is in a stationary state, so that erroneous recording is not performed, and tracking control is performed even when the intensity is reduced. The access time when the operation is restarted can be shortened because the operation is performed.

The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and various modifications can be made. For example, in the embodiment, the scanning speed of the light beam is directly detected from the motor, but the time may be started according to the signal from the CPU controlling the operation of the optical card.
Further, the speed may be detected by the signal read from the photodetector. Further, it may be configured to reduce the intensity of the light beam at the same time when V <V L without using the time measuring circuit.

In addition, even if the light beam has the minimum intensity for obtaining the tracking signal, if the recording is performed in a stationary state for a long time (for example, one hour), the intensity of the light beam may be temporarily reduced during non-operation. The irradiation of the light beam may be stopped if the next access is not restarted for another hour.

As described above, since the optical information recording / reproducing method of the present invention is provided with the means for lowering the intensity of the light beam when the recording or reproducing is not in operation, the recording is prevented from being erroneously performed, and the operation is prevented. When it is restarted, it has the effect of allowing quick access. Further, since high-power light emission for a long period of time during non-operation is eliminated, the life of a light source such as a semiconductor laser is extended and power consumption is saved. Furthermore,
The present invention has an effect of preventing erroneous recording even when the scanning of the light beam is stopped due to an accident or the like.
