Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a resin compsn. from which a molded article with a colorful spotted pattern rich in variety is easily produced by dispersing fine chips of a polyester film in a thermoplastic resin with an m.p. lower than that of the film. CONSTITUTION:A resin compsn. is prepd. by dispersing fine chips of a polyester film (having diameters or sides of 0.5-5.0mm and, if necessary, colored) in a thermoplastic resin having an m.p. lower than that of the polyester (250-260 deg.C) [e.g. polyethylene (m.p. : 130-140 deg.C) or polypropylene (m.p.: 130-160 deg.C)]. The compsn. is molded at a temp. equal to or higher than the softening point of the thermoplastic resin and lower than the m.p. of the polyester. Thus is easily obtd. a molded article with a colorful spotted pattern rich in variety.

2. Description of the Related Art Colored products are generally preferred because general-purpose plastic products such as daily necessities and toys are required to have an aesthetic appearance. However, since colored products are often single-colored products such as pink and blue, they lack variety and require further designability.

As a method of producing a product colored in two or more colors, there is a method of molding resin materials colored in different colors by using a biaxial extrusion molding machine or the like. The final molded product thus obtained Has a so-called marble-like pattern in which a part where the two colors are mixed is formed. In addition, it is generally difficult to give a pattern to a molded article having high transparency. There is also a method of obtaining a molded product having a dispersed pattern of metal powder or aluminum foil pieces by molding using a resin composition obtained by dispersing metal powder or aluminum foil pieces in a transparent resin. In this case, the product tends to be heavy depending on the amount of the filler such as metal powder. Also, in terms of color, it is limited in metallic color, and the variety as a design is poor.

Further, there is a method in which two transparent resin plates are stuck together so as to sandwich thin sheets having various colors or shapes, and a pattern composed of the sheets is formed inside the transparent resin. In such a case, although the range of colors and shapes of the pattern is widened, there is a problem that even a thick product can obtain only a uniform and flat pattern, and the manufacturing process of the product is complicated.

EXAMPLES First, the resin composition of the present invention will be described. The thermoplastic resin as a main component of the resin composition of the present invention (hereinafter referred to as “matrix resin”) is a thermoplastic resin having a melting point lower than that of polyester (250 to 260 ° C.). The melting point is not always clear depending on the type of thermoplastic resin, but in this case, the softening point is selected as a standard.

As the polyester film, a commercially available polyester film or polyester sheet (hereinafter collectively referred to as "polyester film") can be used. Then, a strip formed by cutting this polyester film into an appropriate shape may be used. From the viewpoint of dispersibility in the composition, it is preferable that the size of the strip is such that it is appropriately dispersed and formed into a dotted pattern when formed into a molded product, and thus the thickness is 0.1 to 0. It is about 2 μm, and one side or diameter is 0.5 ~
A strip of about 5.0 mm is preferably used. The shape is not particularly limited.

The polyester film used in the present invention may be a white or transparent film, but a colored film is preferable from the viewpoint of enhancing the decorative property of the molded product. The film may be colored only by applying a colorant on the film surface, but it is preferable to use a colored film obtained by coloring the polyester film at the production stage, that is, by molding a polyester resin composition containing the colorant. In the case of a colored film B formed by applying a colorant on the film surface, if the affinity between the matrix resin and the colorant is greater than the affinity between the colorant and the polyester film, it is applied on the film surface. The colorant in the film may flow out and disperse in the matrix resin, but in a colored film containing a colorant inside the film, the colorant in the film is not affected by the affinity with the colorant. This is because it can be prevented from flowing out and being dispersed.

When a colored film is added, not only one kind but also several kinds of colored films are added.
It is possible to obtain a molded product with higher decorativeness. The amount of such polyester film flakes to be added can be appropriately selected depending on the amount desired to be expressed as a pattern in the finally obtained molded product, but from the viewpoint of dispersibility in the matrix resin, it is generally 2 to 10 wt. % Is preferable.

Additives such as an inorganic filler, a plasticizer, a heat stabilizer, a flame retardant, an antioxidant and an ultraviolet absorber may be added to the resin composition of the present invention as appropriate. Further, the matrix resin may be colored and the resin composition of the present invention may contain some coloring agent as long as the presence of the polyester film is recognized in the finally obtained molded product.

The resin composition of the present invention can be obtained by adding the above matrix resin, strips of polyester film, and other additives, and uniformly kneading the mixture with a Banbury mixer, a kneader or the like. The resin composition of the present invention may be prepared by mixing a matrix resin and a strip of a polyester film before molding, or may be stored in a putty form or a pellet form, such as a premixed so-called premix. You can also keep it.

A molded article is obtained by the following method using the resin composition thus obtained. That is, as the molding method, a molded product can be obtained by a conventionally known method such as extrusion molding, injection molding, blow molding, but the molding temperature is not less than the softening point of the matrix resin and less than the melting point of the polyester. Is performed at about the melting point of the matrix resin. Since the melting point or softening point of the matrix resin used in the present invention is lower than the melting point of the polyester, it is possible to prevent the polyester film from being melted in the molding step and being melted out in the matrix resin to flow out and disperse. .

The molded product thus obtained has a scattered pattern in which the fine pieces of the polyester film are appropriately dispersed in the matrix resin. As the molded product, various products generally manufactured from general-purpose plastics can be manufactured, including daily products such as containers, buckets, and toys. In these molded products, the strips of the polyester film are scattered in a dotted pattern to form a variety of patterns. In particular, in the case of thick products, film strips are dispersed in the thickness direction as well, so it is possible to obtain a deep pattern that cannot be obtained with a molded product obtained by sandwiching a film forming a pattern between plastic plates made of matrix resin. You can This pattern can give a variety of patterned molded articles depending on the shape, size, blending amount, dispersibility, and molding method of the polyester film. Further, the pattern formed by the polyester film does not impair the weight reduction which is an advantage of the plastic product, as compared with the pattern formed by the metal powder or the like. Furthermore, the thermal properties such as the melting point of the polyester film that constitutes the pattern are superior to the thermal properties of the matrix resin. The pattern is not changed and the pattern is retained.

The molded product body 1, that is, the container itself is made of polystyrene, which is a matrix resin, and is colorless and transparent. Then, in the matrix resin forming the molded article body 1, the polyester strips 2 are dispersed in a scattered manner. The presence of colored polyester strips is clearly recognized in the transparent molded product body 1 made of a matrix resin, and a scattered pattern composed of red, blue, and yellow films is formed. That is, a pattern rich in decorativeness and variety that cannot be achieved by the conventional single color container is attached.

EFFECTS OF THE INVENTION By using the resin composition of the present invention for molding, it is possible to obtain a colorful molded article having a variety of scattered patterns. Moreover, the production of a molded article with a pattern is almost the same as the conventional manufacturing process of a molded article without a pattern, and can be easily obtained. Furthermore, the obtained scattered pattern does not impair the weight reduction which is a characteristic of plastic products.
