When the light guide plate (1) tries to linearly expand more than the frames (4) and (5), the light guide plate (1) is warped or the frame (4)
Distortion or bending occurs in (5), causing a problem that the connecting part of both is damaged. In order to eliminate this problem,
As shown in FIG. 7 and FIG. 7, the peripheral edge portion (1a) of the light guide plate (1) is simply held by the frames (4) and (5), and the end face of the light guide plate (1) and the frames (4) and (5) are held. A clearance (3) with a predetermined interval is provided between them. That is, when the light guide plate (1) linearly expands more than the frames (4) and (5) in the joint surface direction of the light guide plate (1) and the frames (4) and (5), the light guide plate (1) is moved to the frame (4). ) (5) is slid so that the clearance of the light guide plate (1) is absorbed by the clearance (3), so that the light guide plate (1) and the frames (4) and (5) are warped and distorted. To prevent it.

Even so, the light guide plate (1) may abnormally move in the direction of the clearance (3) with respect to the frames (4) and (5) due to an impact test such as a drop test of the liquid crystal display device.
In fact, when an impact force of 100 G or more is instantaneously applied to the light guide plate (1) in the impact test, the light guide plate (1) is changed to the frame (4) (5).
Relative to the direction of filling the clearance (3), the fluorescent lamp (2) attached to the end surface of the light guide plate (1) is pressed against the frames (4) and (5) by this movement. There was a problem such as damage.

As shown in FIG. 2, the front and back surfaces of the peripheral portion (1a) of the light guide plate (1) are held by a pair of frames (4) and (5), and the pair of frames (4) and (5) are screwed (6). Tighten and press the front frame (4) against the double-sided adhesive tape (7) to bond it. The light guide plate (1) is supported by the frames (4) and (5) by the holding force of the pair of frames (4) and (5) and the adhesive force of the double-sided adhesive tape (7), and the end face of the light guide plate (1) and the frame. When an impact force is instantaneously applied to the double-sided adhesive tape (7), the double-sided adhesive tape instantly elastically deforms and absorbs the impact force while being adhered to the light guide plate (1) and the frames (4) and (5). Therefore, the light guide plate (1) moves relative to the frames (4) and (5) by a slight amount up to the elastic deformation limit of the double-sided adhesive tape (7), but does not move any further and the light guide plate ( Damage to the fluorescent lamp (2) attached to 1) is prevented. This was proved in an experiment of an impact test in which an impact force of 100 G or more was applied to the frames (4) and (5).

Since it prevents the light plate from moving abnormally with respect to the frame,
It is possible to provide a highly reliable edge-light type backlight unit having excellent impact resistance. In addition, by interposing a binding member between the light guide plate and the frame, the holding force of the frame that holds the light guide plate can be slightly varied, and the workability of assembling the backlight unit can be improved. is there. In particular, if the binding member is a double-sided adhesive tape, the handling becomes easy and the assembly workability can be further improved.
Further, by interposing a binding member having a cushioning material and an adhesive between the frame and the light guide plate, the above-described effect can be obtained, and in addition, it is possible to prevent dust from entering from the light source unit to the diffusion plate side. A backlight unit with excellent uniformity can be obtained.
