Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a grommet water-proof structure having a high sealing performance wherein a liquid curable filler is infiltrated fully the clearance between the wires of a wire harness and the clearance between the wire harness and a grommet and is filled into the clearances. CONSTITUTION:In a main body 1 of a grommet, a protruding part 13 is provided. In an inner member 14 for injecting a filler, a blade member 16 is provided which is outstretched in a pressed way by the insertion of a jig 19 for injecting a filler. The jig 19 is so inserted throughly into a wire harness W wherein the inner member 14 is interpolated that the blade member 16 is engaged internally with the protruding part 13. Thus, the jig 19 is inserted into the inner member 14, and the blade member 16 is outstretched in a pressed way, and the filler is injected into consequently formed spaces. Thereby, the filler can be infiltrated the clearance between the wire harness W and the protruding part 13 and the clearance between wires 3.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a waterproof structure for a grommet wire harness insertion portion. More specifically, the wire harness is inserted into the grommet, and a filling material is injected into the wire harness insertion portion to waterproof the grommet. The present invention relates to a grommet waterproof structure that allows a filler to sufficiently penetrate into a gap between a wire harness and a grommet and a gap between electric wires of the wire harness to completely seal the structure.

2. Description of the Related Art For example, when wiring a wire harness between an engine room and a vehicle compartment of an automobile, an insertion hole is formed in a dash panel that separates both rooms, and a grommet is attached to the insertion hole. The wiring is done by inserting a wire harness inside the grommet.

At this time, in order to prevent water that has entered the engine room due to running in the rain or washing the car from traveling along the electric wire and entering the passenger compartment side, and reaching the connector portion at the end of the electric wire, the electric wire and the grommet are Waterproof treatment with sealing material is applied. Such waterproofing is usually performed by pouring a curable liquid filler into the wire harness insertion portion of the grommet from the outside and allowing the filler to penetrate between the grommet and the wire harness and between the wires of the wire harness. Then, the gap is sealed by hardening the filling material.

One of the grommet waterproof structures for this waterproof treatment is the structure disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 4-36193. As shown in FIG. 8 and FIG. 9 which is a sectional view of the grommet waterproof structure, after inserting the wire harness W into the reduced diameter hole 2 of the grommet main body 1,
The space 6 is formed by inserting the rod-shaped spacer 4 between the electric wires 3 of the wire harness W, and the liquid curable filler 6 is injected into the grommet body 1 in this state, whereby the filler 6 is formed. It penetrates into the space portion 5 and cures the filling material 6 to seal the entire inside of the grommet body 1.

In these conventional grommet waterproof structures, the wire harness W is inserted into the grommet body 1 and then the bundle of electric wires 3 is expanded to insert the spacer 4 or 9 between the electric wires 3. It is necessary to forcibly form the space portion 5. However, it is difficult to push and spread the wire harness W once bundled and inserted into the grommet body 1, and the workability is poor. In particular, in order to insert the annular spacer 9 as shown in FIG. 10 into the wire harness W, it is necessary to form a wider space 5 between the electric wires 3, which makes the insertion work of the spacer 9 more difficult. .

Further, when the spacer 4 or 9 is inserted,
The electric wire 3 may be damaged. Further, in addition to the problem of workability described above, although the space portion 5 is secured by the insertion of the spacer 4 or 9, the electric wire 3 is pressed outward, so that the filler 6 to be injected is injected into the space portion 5. Although it easily flows in, it hardly penetrates into the gap between the electric wires 3. Therefore, in the radial direction of the cross section of the wire harness W, the filler 3

In this way, by injecting the filler with the hollow portion 18 of the inner member 14 for injecting the filler, the blade member 16 and the electric wire 3 being expanded, the injected filler is injected into the injection pipe 20. Out of the filler outflow hole 23, and penetrates between the wire harness W and the convex portion 13 of the grommet body 1 and between the electric wires 3 without any gap. After injecting the filler, the filler injecting jig 19 is pulled out from the filler injecting internal member 14 to obtain the filler injecting internal member 1.
The hollow portion 18 of 4 and the blade member 16 automatically return to the state before insertion, that is, the state in which the plate members 16a and 16b forming the blade member 16 are closed.

With the above, the waterproof structure of the grommet is completed. The filling material injecting internal member 14 used for the waterproof structure of the grommet according to the present invention can take various shapes. For example, as shown in FIG.
Depending on the size of the convex portion 13 of the grommet main body 1 and the size of the bundle of the electric wires 3 forming the wire harness W to be inserted, the number of the blade members 16 can be increased or decreased to facilitate opening and closing thereof. . When they have a large diameter ((a) in the figure), the number of blade members 16 is increased, and when they have a small diameter ((b) in the figure), the number is reduced to reduce the blade members. It is also possible to easily open and close 16. in this case,
The blade 24 of the injection pipe 20 of the filler injection jig 19 is also provided correspondingly.

1. A wire harness is inserted through a grommet body having a large opening cylinder portion at one end and a small opening cylinder portion at the other end, and a liquid curable filling material is injected to form a gap between electric wires of the wire harness. In the grommet waterproof structure that seals the gap between the small opening cylinder and the wire harness, a protrusion is formed on the small opening cylinder of the grommet main body, and the grommet main body is pushed by inserting a filler injection jig. The wiring harness inner member for injecting a filler having a plurality of blade members to be expanded is inserted substantially in the center of the wire bundle,
By inserting the filler injecting internal member through the grommet main body so as to be fitted into the convex portion, inserting the filler injecting jig to expand the blade member, and injecting the filler, A grommet waterproof structure having a structure for sealing a gap between electric wires of the wire harness and a gap between the small opening tubular portion and the wire harness.
