The conventional nozzle 1 for submerged arc welding is generally straight as shown in FIG. 5, and is commercially available as a standard product. Such a straight nozzle is used vertically or with an inclination depending on the condition of the object to be welded.

In particular, when welding a large-diameter steel pipe 2 such as a UO steel pipe or a spiral steel pipe on the outer circumference, the nozzle 1 must be used with an inclination in order to prevent the flow of molten metal, as shown in FIG. Furthermore, when using a plurality of nozzles, at least one nozzle must be welded with a large inclination, which causes the following problems.

That is, since the nozzle is used while being extremely tilted, the welding current fluctuates and the quality of the welded portion is deteriorated and the life of the nozzle is shortened. This is due to the nozzle 1 as shown in FIG.
Since the wire is straight, when the welding wire 3 passes through the nozzle hole, it is concentrated and comes into contact particularly at almost one point of the tip of the nozzle, and the power is supplied. It is thought that this is because the welding current value is electrically driven by sparking in the nozzle because it vibrates due to vibration in the nozzle, and an invention that seems to be able to solve the problem of such a straight nozzle is disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 61-182885, "Gas Shield Arc Welding" Machine contact tip ". This chip is one in which an appropriate waviness is provided in the through hole formed in the chip body to stabilize and reduce the electrical contact resistance between the chip body and the wire to ensure arc start. However, this chip has a through-hole having a swell in a straight chip, and has a drawback that it is extremely difficult to process and becomes an expensive product.

One of the problems in the straight nozzle is that the welding wire to be fed hits the outlet end of the nozzle strongly, so in the present invention, the wire is smoothly fed as shown in FIG. As shown in FIG. 4, the nozzle tip is given a curvature. It is necessary to change the curvature of the tip of the nozzle to some extent depending on the strength and thickness of the wire, but in short, the welding wire 3 is connected to the curved nozzle 1 as shown in FIG. 1 showing an embodiment of the nozzle of the present invention.
If it is supplied by pressing it in one direction, the contact between the nozzle 1 and the wire 3 changes from a point to a surface, so that the contact degree between the wire 3 and the nozzle 1 is increased, and the vibration of the wire is also increased. It is possible to prevent the arc, stabilize the arc, improve the welding quality, and extend the life of the nozzle.

The curvature of the curved nozzle is determined based on the relationship between the weld bead and the curvature. FIG. 2 shows the relationship between the curvature of the nozzle and the width and height of the weld bead. That is, as the nozzle curvature increases, the bead width tends to widen and the bead height tends to decrease. Therefore, from this relationship, the curvature of the nozzle can be obtained at any time. Generally, when the wire diameter is 4 mmφ, the radius of curvature of the nozzle tip is 150 mmR to 250 mmR.
Is desirable. Next, a method of manufacturing the nozzle of the present invention will be described. FIG. 3 is a process diagram showing a method of manufacturing the curved nozzle of the present invention. First, a commercially available copper nozzle is put in a preformed steel frame and bent by a press to a predetermined curvature. Since it is sufficient to prepare several types of frame as needed, the cost of production etc. is cheap. Further, the curved nozzle of the present invention may be used as a tip for gas shield arc welding instead of latent arc welding.

As described above, according to the curved nozzle of the present invention, the following effects can be obtained.

(c) The life of the nozzle is extended by reducing the frequency with which the tip opening of the nozzle is consumed by the wire. (4 times that of the straight nozzle) In this way, there is a remarkable effect that results in a reduction in welding defects and a reduction in the nozzle replacement frequency, which leads to an improvement in the actual operating rate.
