It is manufactured by crimping and gluing and then extruding a sheath around the pipe. Metal tapes consist of laminated tapes with adhesive layers on one or both sides of aluminum, steel, copper or stainless steel tapes. After the metal tape is formed into a pipe, the joint is crimped by a crimping means such as a roll that matches the outer diameter of the cable while heating the periphery with hot air or the like. However, if the metal tape is made of a highly rigid material such as steel or stainless steel, the metal tape may be
Because of the tendency of the metal tapes to open in the heated area, the necessary overlap width could not be obtained, and in addition, spaces were created at the joints of the metal tapes, which resulted in failure of adhesion. As a result, the moisture permeability of the seam of the metal tape deteriorates, and as the seam lifts, the tape edge digs into the coating, resulting in deterioration of mechanical properties.

After gluing, a sheath is extruded around the pipe to cover it to produce a communication cable. In particular, the joints of the metal tape formed on the pipe are bonded by heating and cooling while pressing and bonding. There is.

FIG. 1 shows a method for manufacturing a communication cable according to the present invention, in which a cable core 10 is paid out from a cable core supply 12 and vertically spun. A metal tape 14 to be processed is fed out from a metal tape supply 16, and this metal tape 14 is corrugated by a corrugator 18. Incidentally, this metal tape 14 is made of a laminated tape with adhesive applied thinly to one or both sides thereof.

After this forming, the seams of the metal tapes 14 are heated by a heating means 22 such as a hot air generator, and immediately thereafter are crimped by a crimping means 26 while being cooled by a cooling means 24 such as a cold air generator. Ru. In this way, the adhesive hardens immediately by the cooling means 24 and obtains sufficient adhesive strength, thereby overcoming the rigidity of the metal tape and maintaining the state of the pipe 15. As shown in FIG. 3A, the crimping members constituting the crimping means 26 are a pair of crimping plates 26A having an arcuate recess with a diameter that is the same as or somewhat larger than the outer diameter of the corrugated pipe 15. Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 3B, it consists of a pressure roll 26B.
