The first and the second component shortage detection sensors 6 and 7 are installed on a movable member 8 which can move in a moving direction of a component supply section 1. The movable member 8 is so structured that it may be driven by a servo motor 10 and a moving mechanism 9 such as a feed screw mechanism. The first and the second component shortage detection sensors 6 and 7 detect light reflected on a tape 3 connected to a radial-type electronic component 2. The detection signal is sent to a controller section and the controller section determines based on the detection signal whether there is a shortage of components or not.
