``Prior Art'' Flux-cored welding wire (hereinafter referred to as wire) is widely used because it has excellent welding workability, and in particular, a stable arc and a bead with good appearance can be obtained by semi-automatic and automatic welding. This cross-sectional shape is similar to that of a steel 2 such as a steel pipe, as shown in Fig. 2 a to f.
The inside of the weld is filled with flux, which affects welding workability and the toughness of the deposited metal. By the way, when manufacturing wires having such complicated shapes, it is inevitably necessary to perform bonding between the wires at various wire diameters and product diameters during the manufacturing process.

Generally, when joining wires in the manufacturing process of solid wires, that is, solid wires that do not contain flux, we use butt welding or flash butt welding, which utilizes resistance heat generated by electricity to heat the joint and pressurize it to bond. is used.

However, in the case of a wire containing flux, if welding is performed using the same method, the inner flux will melt and remain in the form of slag or gas, forming a fusion defect 4, as shown in Figure 3. ,
There will be a disconnection.

As a countermeasure to this, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 58-112671,
-116982 and JP-A-58-168481 propose a method of removing the inner flux and press-welding it in a so-called pipe state, and a method of stuffing reinforcing material, deoxidizing agent, etc. into the pipe.

``Problem to be solved by the invention'' However, in this case, it is necessary to make a hole using a drill etc. to remove the flux, and a process of filling the hole with a filler is necessary. Therefore, it takes a considerable amount of time for bonding, and the production line has to be stopped for a long time, which poses a problem when applied to actual production. Furthermore, even if sufficient care is taken, a hardened layer called burr that cannot be removed is generated on the inner surface of the wire during bonding, which causes wire breakage and irregular wire curls in the next wire drawing process, causing manufacturing problems. Become. Furthermore, it affected the wire feeding during welding, which was also a problem in welding.

"Means for Solving the Problems" and "Operations" The present invention was made in view of the above circumstances, and its gist is that the wire in question is the second wire.
It has the cross section shown in the figure, and there are various flux filling amounts.

However, when joining, it is essential to keep in mind that there should be no residual flux at least on the part to be joined, and that there should be no burrs on the inner surface. By removing the flux beyond the welding length, that is, the welding margin, and then crimping the removed cavity with a hammer or wire drawing die, etc., and then joining using the normal butt welding method, we can create a welding method with no fusion defects.
Moreover, we have developed a method that allows for simple joining.

In this case, the flux removal length is set to be longer than the welding length, but if it becomes too long, the part without flux will become the product, so it is necessary to select an appropriate length.

Figure a shows a state in which the wire is attached and butt welding is started. Here, the wire 1 is as described above.
After thoroughly removing the flux from the wire end to a level greater than l' in the welding allowance diagram, the cavity is crimped with a hammer. In this state, electricity was applied using the electrode 5 and pressure welding work (butt welding work) was performed. Figure b shows this state, in which burrs 3 generated during pressure welding work are attached to the periphery of the welded part.

However, burrs, which conventionally occur on the inner surface, do not occur because the cavity is crimped after the flux has been removed as described above.

"Effects of the Invention" As described above, the method of the present invention does not cause fusion defects in joining flux-cored welding wires (butt welding). The next process of wire drawing can be carried out without any problems, and even when applied to product diameters, good welding can be performed without causing feeding defects, and furthermore, joining can be performed in a short time. The value is huge.
