Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily form an accurate groove pattern in the surface of a metal tube by forming a photoresist film on the surface of the tube to be grooved, removing the desired groove pattern and chemically polishing or etching the disclosed tube. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a metal tube 1 is coated with a photoresist film 2 and the part 4 of the film 2 not corresponding to the required groove pattern 3 is cured by exposure. The surface of the tube 1 is then washed to remove the unexposed film 3 and to disclose parts 5 having the groove pattern and the surface of the tube 1 is grooved 6 by chemical polishing or etching with FeCl3, etc. A groove pattern having much higher accuracy than that formed by mechanical working is easily formed at a low cost.
