The above-mentioned synchronous method is a method in which transmission codes are always transmitted in synchronization with a constant period, and the start-stop synchronization method is a method in which transmission codes are transmitted in synchronization every l code. In the above synchronization method, under the control of the control unit 1 in FIG. 2, the communication unit 2 having a serial/parallel conversion function:
A transmission code generated from data to be transmitted based on a clock signal sent from the modem 4 via the modem interface 3 is always transmitted to the modem 4 at a constant cycle. On the other hand, in the start-stop synchronization method, under the control of the control unit 1, the communication unit 2 generates a transmission code by adding a start bit and a stop hit before and after the information bit of, for example, one character. Character synchronization and hit synchronization are performed for each l code and transmitted to the modem 4. In this way, the communication unit 2 must perform different transmission code generation operations depending on the transmission method of the modem 4 connected via the modem interface 3. Therefore, in order to control the communication section 2, the control section 1 needs to determine in advance the transmission method of the modem 4 connected to the communication section 2. Conventionally, the control unit 1 determines the transmission method of the connected modem 4 based on instructions from the outside. At this time, the general method for instructing the control unit 1 to select the transmission method of the modem 4 is for the operator to determine the transmission method of the modem 4 and instruct the control unit 1 as shown in FIG. be. Further, as shown in FIG. 3, a method is provided in which a transmission method identification means 5 for identifying the transmission method of the modem 4' is provided, and an instruction signal based on the identification result is outputted from the transmission method identification means 5 to the control section 1'. is possible.

That is, when the operator judges the transmission method of the modem 4 and instructs the control unit 1, there is a problem that it is impossible to automate the communication system, and errors may occur due to operator's erroneous operation. There is a problem. In addition, when the transmission method identification means 5 is provided and the transmission method of the modem 4' is identified by the transmission method identification means 5, the control section I°1 communication section 2', the modem interface 3° and the modem 4° The problem is that the transmission system identification means 5 must be added to the original communication system consisting of the following, which increases costs. Therefore, an object of the present invention is to automatically determine the transmission method of a modem connected to a communication section through simple and inexpensive processing without adding special means for identifying the modem transmission method to a conventional communication system. An object of the present invention is to provide a modem transmission method identification method that can be used to identify a modem.

き込みとの順序は逆であってもよHereinafter, the present invention will be explained in detail with reference to illustrated embodiments. FIG. 1 is a block diagram of a communication system according to the present invention. The communication unit 12 having a serial-to-parallel conversion function converts the transmission parallel buffer I under the control of the control unit 11.
The data to be transmitted stored in the transmitter 5 is subjected to parallel-to-parallel conversion according to the transmission method of the modem 14 to generate a transmission code, and is sent to the modem 14 via the modem interface 13. Then, the modem 14 converts the received transmission code into an alternating current signal using a predetermined modulation method according to the transmission method, and transmits it over the line. In this embodiment, when the communication unit 12 of the communication system generates a transmission code based on the data to be transmitted that is input from the outside, the control unit 11 determines the transmission method of the connected modem 14. You can identify whether there is one as follows. First, the control section 11 outputs to the modem 14 an instruction signal for sending the clock signal from the modem 14 to the communication section 12 via the modem interface 13. In that case, if the transmission method of the modem 14 connected to the communication section 12 is a synchronous method, the lock signal necessary for generating a transmission code in the communication section 12 as described above is sent to the modem 14.
The data is sent to the communication section 12 from there. On the other hand, if the transmission method of the modem 14 is an asynchronous method, a clock signal is not required when the communication section 12 generates a transmission code, so no clock signal is transmitted from the modem 14 to the communication section 12. Next, the control section 11 sets the transmission code generation mode of the communication section 12 to a transmission code generation mode using the synchronous method, and then writes dummy data to the transmission parallel buffer 15 in the communication section 12. Then, if the transmission method of the modem 14 is a synchronous method, the communication section 12 generates a transmission code by converting the dummy data from serial to parallel based on the clock signal sent from the modem 14 as described above. and transmits it to modem 14. As a result, the transmission parallel buffer 15 becomes empty. On the other hand, if the transmission method of the modem 14 is an asynchronous method, even if the communication section 12 attempts to generate a transmission signal using the synchronous method, the modem 14 does not send out a clock signal, so the transmission signal cannot be generated. As a result, the dummy data is not transmitted from the transmission parallel buffer y15, and the dummy data remains in the transmission parallel buffer 15. Therefore, the control section 11 checks whether or not there is data in the transmission parallel buffer 15 after a predetermined period of time has elapsed since writing the dummy data into the transmission parallel buffer 15 of the communication section 12 . If the transmission parallel buffer 15 is empty, it is determined that the dummy data has been sent to the modem 14 in synchronization with the clock signal from the modem 14. That is, modem 1
The transmission method No. 4 is identified as a synchronous method. On the other hand, if the transmission parallel buffer 15 is not empty, it is determined that the transmission method of the modem 14 is an asynchronous method. Thus, the transmission method of the modem 14 is identified by the control Nil. Then, the control section 11 sets the transmission code generation mode of the communication section 12 to a transmission code generation mode corresponding to the transmission method of the modem 14 in preparation for regular data transmission. That is, in this embodiment, when identifying the transmission method of the modem 14, the control section 11 selects the modem 1 connected to the communication section I2 via the modem interface 13.
4, outputs an instruction signal instructing the transmission of a clock signal. Next, after setting the transmission code generation mode of the communication section 12 to a transmission code generation mode using the synchronous method, dummy data is written into the transmission parallel buffer 15. After a predetermined period of time has elapsed, it is checked whether data exists in the transmission parallel buffer 15. As a result, if the parallel transmission buffer 15 is empty, it is determined that the transmission method of the modem 14 is a synchronous method. On the other hand, if the dummy data is present in the transmission parallel buffer 15, it is determined that the transmission method of the modem 14 is an asynchronous method. Therefore, the control unit 11. Communication department 12. In a normal communication system consisting of a modem interface 13 and a modem 14, the transmission method of the modem can be automatically identified by simple processing without adding special means for identifying the transmission method of the modem 14. In the present invention, the order of outputting the instruction signal to the modem 14 and writing dummy data to the transmission parallel buffer 15 may be reversed.

きる。As is clear from the above, the modem transmission method identification method of the present invention includes outputting an instruction signal to the modem 12 for instructing transmission of a clock signal, and setting the transmission code generation mode of the communication section to a transmission code generation mode using a synchronous method. After setting, write dummy data to the transmit buffer and use the above dummy data.
After a predetermined period of time has elapsed after writing data and outputting the instruction signal, if the transmitter sofa is empty, the modem's transmission method is determined to be a synchronous method, while if the dummy data is present, Since it is identified as the start-stop synchronization method, there is no need to add special means for identifying the modem transmission method to the communication system consisting of the communication section, modem, control section, and modem interface.
A modem transmission method can be automatically identified at low cost through simple processing.
