The present invention relates to a transfer foil, particularly a transfer foil using a metallic pigment. For example, when making a decorative material using a transfer foil, if the transfer surface can be made uneven, the design of the transfer surface can be improved. This effect is particularly noticeable in transfer foils using metallic pigments such as powdered aluminum. From this perspective, the present invention provides a transfer foil that can provide unevenness to the transfer surface at the same time as transfer. The transfer foil of the present invention includes a base film 3, a release ink layer 4, a metal powder ink layer 5, a light-reflective hiding layer 6, and an adhesive layer 7 stacked in this order as shown in FIG. Thickness 3 to 10μ on adhesive layer 7
It is characterized by having a concavo-convex pattern printing 8 of m. When attempting to obtain a transfer pattern on a matte surface, the base material 3 is a matte film kneaded with fine silica powder, typically a polyester film.
If a glossy surface is desired, an ordinary smooth film is used. The release layer 4, the metal powder ink layer 5, and the adhesive layer 7, which are sequentially provided on this base material, may be formed by a technique known in the field of metallic transfer foils, such as a gravure printing method. However, between the ink layer 5 and the adhesive layer 7, there is a light-reflective hiding layer 6 containing a highly light-reflective pigment.
This is one important feature of the present invention. This concealing layer 6 simply serves as a base for the transfer target 10.
It is necessary not only to hide the light, but also to make it highly reflective by using ink containing metal powder and white pigment. By forming the concealing layer 6 with such high light reflectivity, the following effects can be achieved. That is, although it is natural that the metal powder ink layer 5 gives a metallic luster, the ink layer 5 has an unexpectedly high light transmittance, and a considerable proportion of external light passes through the ink layer 5. to reach the hidden layer 6.
At this time, if the concealing layer 6 is light-absorbing, the reflected light from inside is reduced and the brightness of the ink layer 5 is reduced, giving a dark feeling. On the other hand, if the hiding layer 6 contains metal powder or white pigment and is light reflective, the ink layer 5 will be affected by the overlap of the light reflected on its surface and the light reflected by the hiding layer 6, which will reduce the brightness of the ink layer and the metallic light. The gloss is significantly improved. More importantly, in addition to the surface reflection of the ink layer 5, the reflected light from the surface of the hiding layer 6 is added, so that a very deep metallic luster can be obtained. Another important effect, related to the above-mentioned effects, is that even if the thickness of the uneven pattern printing 8 in FIG. 1 is very thin, for example, 10 μm or less, a remarkable uneven feeling is produced. That is, the external light is not only reflected light from the surface of the ink layer 5, but also reflected light from the surface of the hiding layer 6, that is, from a deep position, so that the concavo-convex pattern portion gives a more prominent feeling. Therefore, in the present invention, the concavo-convex pattern printing 8 provides a sufficiently excellent concavo-convex feeling even with a thickness of 10 μm or less, and the concavo-convex pattern printing 8
Since the layer may be thin, sufficient transfer is possible even if the transfer pressure is low during transfer. An example is shown next.

[Table] *May be colored if desired. The uneven pattern printing is performed depending on the unevenness to be formed on the transfer surface. Although this printing method is also arbitrary, gravure printing is suitable. In order to improve the design, it is preferable that the unevenness is at least 3 μm or more. The upper limit depends on the size of the pattern, but
Usually about 10 μm is sufficient. When attempting to apply a concavo-convex pattern in this range by gravure printing, the plate depth used is usually 30 to 80 μm. There are no restrictions on the ink for printing this pattern if its proportion on the transfer surface is low, but if it is high or if you want to increase the adhesion of the transfer, it is desirable to have adhesive properties, so use the adhesive described above. Use adhesive ink of the same or different type as the layer. The mechanism by which a textured transfer surface can be obtained using the transfer foil of the present invention will be clear from FIG. 2. That is, the above-mentioned uneven pattern printing 8 is on the surface of the transfer target 10, and that portion is made to protrude.
In this way, the design quality is improved. At this time, due to the effect of the light-reflective hiding layer 6 as described above, the ink layer 5 exhibits extremely high brightness, metallic luster, and depth, and even though the actual unevenness difference is 10 μm or less, Visually 20 to 30μm
This has the unexpected effect of giving the viewer a sense of unevenness.
