The present invention relates to a method for producing a resistive paint, particularly a paint having a low resistance value (hereinafter simply referred to as the "manufacturing method"). Generally, resistive coatings consist of a conductive powder, an inorganic insulating powder, and a thermosetting or thermoplastic resin as a binder. In some cases, it may not contain inorganic insulation powder. Graphite and carbon black are often used as conductive powders, and noble metals, especially Ag, are used for very low resistance. However, since Ag is expensive, research using Cu has recently been progressing, but it can be said that there is no substitute for Ag on the market. but
In the case of Ag paints, when used in jumper wire printed circuits where electrical direct current is often applied, or in areas where humidity is unavoidable, Ag migration occurs if the distance between the lines is small.
Caution is required as this phenomenon is likely to occur. In addition, in an atmosphere containing oxidizing or sulfur dioxide gas, etc.
The resistance increases significantly due to oxidation and sulfurization of Ag, making it necessary to apply strict protective coating. For this reason, carbon-based powder has the best characteristics and is inexpensive, but the drawback is that it is difficult to obtain low resistance.
Therefore, paints using carbon powder have been widely studied, but volume resistivity (hereinafter referred to as specific resistance ρ (Ω)
-cm) of less than 10 -2 order does not seem to be found. This is because most binder resins are insulators with a ρ of 10 10 Ω-cm or more. Next, in the case of carbon paints, the current situation can be summarized as follows. (1) When graphite is used alone, ρ ni (minimum value of resistivity ρ) is on the order of 10 -1 . Of course, graphite must be heat-treated at 500°C to 1000°C to drive out impurities such as oil and fat before use. (2) By using a mixture of flake-like graphite and small-grained carbon black with a small ρ, a p ni of the order of 10 -2 can be obtained. In this case, the graphite and carbon black are treated as described above. Since carbon black has a small particle size, it is easily oxidized in the atmosphere. Particularly small particles evaporate as CO or CO 2 gas, so do not use inert gas or H 2 gas.
It is necessary to process in a reducing gas such as The importance of selecting the particle shape of each carbon can also be understood from the fact that when a resistive film is formed, its cross-sectional shape is as shown in the schematic diagram of FIG. In the figure, 1 is flaky graphite, and 2 is amorphous minute carbon black. The microscopic carbon fills the gaps between the large carbon flakes, reducing resistance. The value of ρ will also vary depending on the resin used, the concentration of the paint when solvent is added, etc., but to summarize, the relationship between carbon content and ρ is as shown in curves A and B in Figure 2. Become. A indicates a combination of one type of carbon (mainly graphite, and B indicates a combination of two types. Note that even if you combine three or more types of carbon that are commonly used, use two carefully selected types of carbon and carefully It seems that it is not possible to obtain a ρ ni smaller than that obtained using a paint prepared according to a controlled process. Therefore, when using conventional manufacturing methods and conventional carbon, resin, filler, etc., ρ ni It may be safe to assume that only one of the order of 10 -2 can be obtained. The steps of the conventional resistor manufacturing method are roughly as follows: (a) Flake-like graphite 1 as shown in Figure 1 is 500℃, carbon black 2 in the atmosphere or when the particle size is extremely small, N 2 gas or
Treated in H 2 gas at 800°C to 1000°C, (b) Immediately (when exposed to the atmosphere, it absorbs moisture in a very short period of time due to its high activity, and depending on the environmental conditions, S, SO 2 , Add the solvent to be used (because it absorbs gases such as NO 2 ) or the resin to be used into a large amount of slightly dissolved solvent and mix thoroughly. In this case, when producing many types of resistance paints with different resistance values, separate liquid mixtures are prepared and mixed as necessary. (c) Next, according to the given design resistance value, add the carbon thoroughly mixed with the solvent into the specified resin paint diluted with an appropriate amount of solvent, and (d) use an appropriate mixing device. The whole is thoroughly mixed, and then the solvent is evaporated to a specified concentration, thereby obtaining a specified resistance coating. In this case, the final step may be to run it on a roll machine. The resistance value characteristic of the paint made in this way is the second
As shown by curve B in the figure, there is always an unstable region of () and (), a stable region of (), and an unstable region of (). In the figure, the horizontal axis is the carbon content and the vertical axis is ρ. Since there are few carbon particles in the range (), the current is due to the electrons moving due to the tunnel effect when the carbon particles approach each other and the distance is within a few angstroms, which is the so-called tunnel current. . Therefore, the value of ρ is extremely large and unstable, and is particularly affected by temperature, so it cannot be used as a resistor. The range in parentheses is mainly due to the contact current of carbon particles, which is the most stable and is actually used. The range in parentheses is a region where the tunnel current and contact current coexist, and the resistance value varies from high resistance to extremely high resistance depending on the magnitude of both currents, and is greatly influenced by the carbon content. Therefore, it is unstable and cannot be used. The range in parentheses is due to the contact current, but because the carbon content is too high, the contact state of the carbon particles becomes unstable, and the resistance value changes significantly even with a slight mechanical pressure difference. Therefore, it cannot be used. In other words, the range that can be used as a resistance paint is limited to the range in parentheses. As mentioned above, the value of ρ ni that can be reached with one type of carbon is on the order of 10 -1 Ω-cm, and the value of ρ ni that can be achieved with a mixture of two or more types of carbon is on the order of 10 -2 Ω-cm. It means the minimum value of the range. The flaky carbon black has an average particle size (20 to 40) mμm and a distribution range R = (5-
95) Good results can be obtained using mμm.
Typical examples include acetylene black manufactured by Denki Kagaku Co., Ltd., which will be described later, and Ketsutin Black E. manufactured by Akzo Corporation.
C etc. As mentioned above, the minimum value ρ ni of a carbon-based paint obtained by the conventional manufacturing method is on the order of 10 -2 , but an object of the present invention is to obtain an even smaller value, at least on the order of 10 -3 . In order to achieve this object, the method for producing a resistance paint according to the present invention is characterized by mixing and suspending expanded graphite and carbon black, which has a small volume resistivity, in a solution of a thermosetting or thermoplastic resin. be. Next, the manufacturing method will be explained in detail. The present invention has a high structure.
It is characterized by the use of carbon black in its structure and expanded graphite, which was recently invented both at home and abroad. Since the former is widely known, there is no need to explain its structure, characteristics, etc. For example, acetylene black (hereinafter abbreviated as AB) manufactured by Denki Kagaku Co., Ltd., and buttock black E/C manufactured by Akzo Co (Lion Akzo in the Netherlands and Japan).
(hereinafter abbreviated as EC), etc. Next, expanded graphite will be explained very simply. As is well known, graphite has a huge network plane made up of carbon molecules developed as a regular hexagonal network structure.
It is a carbon crystal body consisting of this plane and another net-like plane that is restrained by the Van der Wals force at an extremely small distance in the direction perpendicular to this plane (referred to as the C-axis direction). Generally, this structure has many layers stacked on top of each other to form a huge structure. High-temperature treatment or electrolytic oxidation treatment using a strong acid that forms an intercalation compound with graphite, or the above-mentioned 2
An intercalation compound is formed by a method that uses a combination of methods, etc. Next, after thorough washing with water, the temperature is rapidly increased to perform high-temperature treatment at around 900°C, and the intercalation compound instantaneously evaporates, causing the interlayer spacing to expand rapidly. This is because the Van der Wals forces acting on the bonds between the layers are extremely small compared to the molecular forces that bond the carbon molecules in the network plane. When processed in this way, depending on the processing conditions, C
Graphite expanded several tens to hundreds of times in the axial direction is obtained. In other words, expanded graphite with extremely low bulk specific gravity can be obtained. An example of its manufacturing method is detailed in the following document. Γ Title of invention: Method for producing expanded graphite. Γ Application number: Japanese Patent Application No. 53-137203 The expanded graphite is made into a film using a high-pressure roll and is now widely used as a packing gasket material. This is because it has excellent properties such as excellent chemical resistance, heat resistance, mechanical properties, etc., and extremely low coefficient of friction. The present inventor has focused on the fact that the particle size of expanded graphite particles is extremely large in volume compared to other graphites and carbon black, the purity is 99.5% or more, and the bulk specific gravity is extremely small. In this case, the conductivity is small in the C-axis direction, but it is large along the mesh plane, and therefore the resistance per unit volume becomes small. In addition, since the surface area is extremely small compared to high-structure carbon black, the amount of resin used as a binder can be reduced in the production of a resistive coating. Therefore, the carbon black
It is expected that a low resistance paint will be obtained when used in combination with AB or EC. As mentioned above, very large particles of expanded graphite can be obtained, and an equivalent volume equal to the volume V thereof will be considered. That is, as shown in FIG. 3, if A is the equivalent area of the mesh plane and the thickness is t, then the following equation can be established. V=A・t=(x・y)t (1) Considering the case of many particles, we can consider A to be a regular quadrilateral and write A=xy=x 2 (2). It is actually convenient to set the average value of x and the range of its distribution to be R. The present inventor used an expanded graphite named E-1 as a paint for printing resistance, and a paint named E-2 as a paint for radio wave shielding. E-1,
E-2 is expressed using the above symbols as shown in Table 1.

比を第2表のようにする。[Table] The manufacturing method of paint using expanded graphite E-1 and E-2 and mixing carbon black EC or AB is as follows:
Although there are no major differences from conventional resistance paints, there are some differences, which will be briefly described below. When making printing resistor paints, E-1 and BC are heat treated at approximately 1000℃ and 600℃ respectively to drive out adsorbed moisture and impurities, and then poured into a solution containing the resin specified by the manufacturing specifications. Add the required amount, mix well, evaporate the solvent using a post-mill, and finally roll to achieve the specified viscosity. FIG. 4 shows a cross-sectional model of a printed resistor completed by printing and sintering using this paint. In the figure, 3 is E-1 and 2 is carbon black EC. E-2 is used to make a radio wave shielding paint that may have coarse particles. Next, we will briefly discuss the effects of expanded graphite based on experimental results. (b) A suitable solvent (for example, carbitol acetate) and a suitable resin (for example, xylene-modified phenol resin manufactured by Mitsubishi Gas Chemical, Nicanol PR1440M)
Dissolve to make a 20% resin solution. (b) Add carbon black EC to the 100gr melt.
Mix 10 grr, 15 gr... and use the paint made by the above method to make a printed resistor. The method for manufacturing printed resistors is already widely known, so the description will be omitted. When the relationship between ρ and carbon content is measured from the resistance value obtained by a commonly used screen printing method, a curve like curve A in FIG. 5 is obtained. From the curve A, a point P is determined that gives ρ ni . Next, using the same method as above, at point P (assuming the content is 30%), the weight of EC is 30gr at this point, so add 5gr of E-1 to this weight,
When the values of ρ of the printing resistance obtained using the resistance paint made by adding 10gr are plotted one after another, a curve C is obtained.
is obtained. Similarly, curve D uses E-2. From these curves the points Q and R that give ρ ni are determined. Curve B in FIG. 5 is a diagram obtained when other general graphites are added, and there are no points corresponding to points Q and R that give ρ ni that occurs when E-1 and E-2 are added.
That is, the effects of expanded graphites E-1 and E-2 can be concretely understood from the drawings. Note that the portion where the end of each curve is extended by a dotted line corresponds to the portion where the resistance value is unstable, which corresponds to () in FIG. 2 mentioned above. Next, examples will be described. Example 1 The composition ratio of carbon black EC and expanded graphite E-1 was set as shown in Table 2.

Dissolved in carbitol acetate, pure resin 10 minutes,
15, 30, 35, and 40 (%) solutions are prepared, and each of the carbon compositions shown in Table 2 is mixed into these solutions to make a resistance paint. Using this paint, 10 printed resistors were screen-printed on a phenol substrate and completed by firing. The average value of ρ (Ω-cm) was determined from the film thickness and resistance value, and the results are shown in FIG. The area of the resistor is 4 x 40 (mm), and an Ag coating (resistance is extremely low) is baked on both lengthwise ends. Average value is 3Ω/
It was a small value of □. The film thickness is approximately 40 μm, so if the resistance value is R, and the length, width, and film thickness of the resistive film are L, B, and t', the value of ρ ni is given by the following formula, so ρ ni = R・t′B/L (3) Inserting the above value into this (unit: cm) ρ ni = 3×40×10 -4 ×0.4/4=1.2×10 -3 (Ω−cm
) (4), and it became clear that a resistance with a value of ρ on the order of 10 -3 can be obtained here. The point showing ρ ni is the fifth
This is indicated by point Q on curve 5 in the figure. In Figure 6: (1) shows the characteristics when only EC is used, (2) shows the characteristics when only E-1 is used, and (3), (4), and (5) are the same as those in Table 2. The characteristics of Nos. 2, 3, and 4 are shown below. Example 2 A typical manufacturing method for a resistance paint for radio wave shielding will be described. (1) Composition of carbon used. E-2 20 EC 25 AB 5 NC-1 (Flake graphite manufactured by Nippon Black Liquor Co., Ltd.) 50 100% This composition is referred to as CG. Next is the paint composition. ΓC-G 55 *Note 1 Γ30% PKHH 150 (Pure resin amount 45%) 100% (does not contain solvent) In addition, a very small amount of Aramide OF is used as a dispersant.

-Add M (manufactured by Ajinomoto). *Note 1: Trade name of phenoxy resin (thermoplastic) from USA Union Carbide Co. As a solvent, a mixture of equal amounts of ethyl cellosolve and methyl ethyl ketone is used. The method for producing a resistive paint using the above-mentioned raw materials has already been explained in detail and there are no special precautions, so the description will be omitted for the sake of brevity. Using the paint, a coating film is created by a spray method,
When a resistive film is made by drying and sintering, the film thickness is 80 μm.
Then, the surface specific resistance ρ′ (Ω/□) is 0.95Ω/□
It became. Therefore, the volume resistivity ρ (Ω-cm) can be obtained from the relationship ρ′=ρ/t (5) as follows. ρ=ρ′t=0.95×80×10 −4 =7.6×10 −3 Ω−cm (6) That is, even in this case, a resistance on the order of 10 −3 can be obtained. Next, the effects of the present invention will be briefly described. The printed resistor manufactured using the resistive paint according to the present invention, particularly the paint using E-1 as shown in Example 1, has significantly better temperature characteristics and load life characteristics than printed resistors made of conventional resistive paints. , moisture load characteristics,
Shows equivalent or even superior properties in terms of aging characteristics, moisture resistance, etc. The reason for this is that, in the case of the present invention, the conductive particles are the most stable graphite, and the carbon black used in combination also almost always has a structure closest to that of crystalline graphite. It would be too tedious to show these comparative characteristics, so it will be omitted. Furthermore, it has already been explained in detail that the lowest volume resistivity has been achieved on the order of 10 -3 Ω-cm, which was previously unobtainable. Next, the resistance film for radio wave shielding using E-2, which is made of a resistive paint with large particles suitable for spraying, brushing, etc., has a sufficiently low resistance value as mentioned above, and the shielding result is of
Satisfies FCC regulations. Furthermore, the film has excellent film strength and impact properties. Finally, this application has mainly described the resistor structure as shown in Figure 4, but in addition to expanded graphite and high-structure carbon black, it is possible to It should be noted that even lower resistance may be obtained in some cases by adding treated fine particles of carbon black to form a three-component carbon conductive layer as shown in FIG. (In the figure, 1, 2, and 3 are as described above, so their explanations are omitted.) One example is given in Example 2. Of course, such a case is only one example of application of the present invention. It is already widely known that the resin used for printing resistance paints is limited to thermosetting resins, so the reason for this is omitted for the sake of brevity. Furthermore, the reason why thermoplastic resin was used in the radio wave shielding paint of Example 2 is that the substrate on which the shielding process is applied often deforms due to changes in ambient temperature, mechanical pressure, etc. This is because there are many.
