Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous operation of remote reception of the facsimile equipment and to simplify the operation by operating detection processing of a CNG signal on a line when hook-off of a connected telephone set is detected. CONSTITUTION:When a Ci (call) signal is detected through a line, the result is sent to a connected telephone set (slave telephone set) 10 via an NCU 8. When the NCU 8 detects hook-off of the telephone set 10, a CPU 1 uses a MODEM 7 to detect a CNG signal via the NCU 8. When no CNG signal is detected, the telephone set is set to the talking state and the state is restored in the standby state when the slave telephone set hooks on. When the CNG signal is detected, the CPU 1 reaches a reception state and the mode restores the standby state at the end of reception. The CPU 9 controls the NCU 8 so that a telephone line 9 is connected to both the telephone set 10 and the MO DEM 7 during talking by the telephone set 10. When the MODEM 7 detects the CNG signal, the CPU 9 controls the NCU 8 so that the connection between the line 9 and the telephone set 10 is disconnected and the MODEM 7 starts facsimile communication.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, an operator picks up the handset of a slave telephone of a facsimile machine, listens to the signal transmitted over the line, and when the operator determines that a facsimile reception has been received, the operator sends a DTMF signal from the slave telephone to the main facsimile machine.
The main facsimile device is configured to initiate reception by sending a (dual tone multi-frequency) signal or by switching the slave telephone.

However, the above-mentioned conventional example has the following drawbacks due to the operation timing of the operator who performs the remote reception operation on the facsimile machine. (1) In the method of transmitting a DTMF signal from a slave phone and determining the DTMF signal using the main facsimile device, remote reception may not be possible due to the length of the DTMF signal transmission time and the signal interval of the DTMF signal operated by the operator. (2) In the method in which the main facsimile device determines the switch of the sub phone by switching the hook switch of the handset of the sub phone from off to on, the operation timing of the operator on the sub phone side and the reception timing determined on the main unit side are different. etc. remote reception is not possible.

When a Ci (calling) signal is received on the line shown in FIG. 1, the Ci signal is directly transmitted to the connecting telephone (child telephone) 10 via the NCU 8. When the CPU 1 detects off-hook of the connected telephone (child telephone) 10 by the NCU 8 (step S1), the CPU 1 detects a CNG signal by the modem 7 of the main body facsimile device via the NCU 8 (step S2). If no CNG signal is detected, the telephone communication state (step S4) is changed to the slave telephone on-hook (step S5), and the telephone returns to the standby state.

[0011] The CPU 9 controls the NCU 8 so that the telephone line 9 is connected to both the connecting telephone 10 and the modem 7 during a call using the connecting telephone 10. When CNG is detected by the modem 7, the CPU 9 connects the telephone line 9 and the modem 7.
The NCU 8 may be controlled so that the telephone line 9 and the connected telephone 10 are disconnected from each other while the telephone line 9 remains connected. Then, facsimile communication using the modem 7 is started.
