Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent damages to a nozzle and nozzle plate by covering the periphery of the nozzle, excluding the nozzle, with a metal plate in an ink-jet record head wherein the nozzle is bored in a plastic material. CONSTITUTION:On a nozzle plate 1 made of plastic material attached to a case 3, wherein a nozzle 5 is bored in the plate 1, a nozzle protection plate 2 made of, for example, stainless steel is fixed so as to avoid the nozzle 5. Taper 4 is formed on the edge of the relate 2 in the vicinity of the nozzle 5. When foreign matters such as waste paper, metal pieces, dust, etc., of printing paper which have been attached to the plate 1 near the nozzle 5 are removed using a rubber plate, even fine foreign matters having been attached to the plate 1 can be removed by means of the taper 4. By the aforementioned arrangement, damages to the nozzle plate and nozzle can be prevented to enable uniform delivery of ink particles.

(Prior Art) In a conventional inkjet recording head, nozzles for ejecting ink droplets were formed by drilling them into a plastic material. As shown in FIG. 7, a substrate 10 with an ink flow path made of metal, plastic, glass, etc. is recessed in a case 3 to protect the substrate, and a nozzle 5 for ejecting ink droplets over the entire surface of the case is made of plastic material. A nozzle plate 1 drilled in the hole is fixed. In such an inkjet recording head, minute scratches are formed on the surface of the nozzle plate 1 and the nozzles 5 due to rubbing of the nozzle plate 1 by paper, metal pieces, dust, chips, etc. during printing. If the nozzle 5 is damaged, it becomes impossible to stably eject ink droplets, which is the main purpose of an inkjet recording head, and the ink droplets are ejected in a direction different from the direction in which they are originally ejected. Also,
Due to adhesion or intrusion of foreign matter such as dust, scum, paper waste from printing paper, etc. to the nozzle 5, it becomes impossible to obtain the desired ink droplets. In addition, when the cap 11 of the nozzle plate 1 is attracted to the surface of the nozzle plate 1 to create a negative pressure inside the cap 11 and suck out the foreign matter clogged in the nozzle 5, the cap 11 may be damaged due to scratches formed on the surface of the nozzle plate 1. There is a problem that adsorption becomes insufficient.

FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the present invention, and is a sectional view taken in a direction perpendicular to the nozzle array. In the same figure, a nozzle protection plate 2 made of stainless steel and having a thickness of 20 to 100 μm, for example, is fixed to a nozzle plate 1 made of plastic material with nozzles 5 bored therein, which is attached to a case 3 so as to avoid the nozzles 5. . A taper 4 is provided in the vicinity of the nozzle 5 of the nozzle protection plate 2. Use a rubber blade to remove foreign objects such as paper scraps, metal pieces, dust, and lumps from the printing paper attached to the vicinity of the nozzle 5, and foreign substances such as paper scraps, metal pieces, dust, and lumps from the printing paper attached to the nozzle plate l. When removing the nozzle plate 1 with or without the taber 4, the case with the taber 4 makes it possible to remove finer foreign matter as well as foreign matter adhering to the details of the nozzle plate 1.

In FIG. 2, the nozzle 5 is installed in the case 3, similar to the embodiment shown in FIG.
A nozzle plate 1 having holes therein is attached, a nozzle protection plate 2 is fixed so as to avoid the nozzles, and a groove or a circular recess 6 is provided on the ink drop ejection side of the nozzle 5 formed on the nozzle plate 1. This figure shows an inkjet recording head. FIG. 3 shows a cross section near the nozzle 5 in FIG. 2. This recess 6 is for protecting the nozzle 5 from damage caused by foreign matter. Even when this recess 6 is provided, by providing the nozzle protection plate 2 with a taper 4 as shown in FIG.
This makes it easier to remove foreign matter that has adhered to it in the same way as explained in FIG.

FIG. 4 shows an example of a method of bonding the nozzle protection plate 2 in the embodiments shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. FIG. In FIGS. 1 and 2, the nozzle plate 1 and the nozzle protection plate 2 are bonded together using an adhesive, but in the case of FIG. 4, the nozzle plate 1 is fixed to the case 3, A nozzle protection plate 2 is fixed thereon by applying an adhesive 7 to the outer circumference of the nozzle protection plate 2. Because of the adhesive 7, even if the paper comes into contact with the outer circumference of the nozzle protection plate 2, sharp parts such as the leading edge of the paper will not peel off the nozzle protection plate 2.

In FIG. 5, a nozzle plate 1 is fixed to a case 3, and a nozzle protection plate 2 is fixed thereon. At this time, a protrusion 8 is provided on the nozzle plate 1. As a result, the difference in level between the nozzle plate 1 and the nozzle protection plate 2 becomes smaller than that described in the above embodiment, so that foreign matter attached to the nozzle 5 and the recess 6 can be easily removed. By providing the taper 4 at the step between the nozzle protection plate 2 and the nozzle plate 1, foreign matter attached to the nozzle 5 and the recess 6 can be more easily removed.
