る。(Prior Art) Recently, with the increase in the density of magnetic recording, there is a tendency to increase the frequency band of recording and reproduction signals. Conventionally, a magnetic head corresponding to this has been made by forming a thin film of ferromagnetic metal on a core made of ferromagnetic oxide, and sandwiching a nonmagnetic material to form a gap. is known. In such a magnetic head, eddy currents are generated in a high frequency region in the metal thin film that sandwiches the non-magnetic material and forms the gap, so deterioration of characteristics, that is, a decrease in output, due to eddy current loss becomes a problem.

A magnetic head has been proposed which attempts to improve high frequency characteristics by increasing the resistivity of the magnetic head and reducing eddy current loss (Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 217901/1983).

A magnetic head in which 07 is composed of a single-layer magnetic WA208 made of ferromagnetic metal has also been proposed (Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 259810/1983). Note that the reference numeral 204 is a core half.

In the magnetic head to be formed, the thin film is a multilayer magnetic film in which magnetic layers of ferromagnetic metal and layers of nonmagnetic material are alternately laminated, and the multilayer magnetic film is formed at least on the tape sliding surface with respect to the gap. The non-magnetic material layer of the multilayer magnetic film is not exposed at a portion of the tape sliding surface that is inclined and forms the gap.

Since the multilayer magnetic film is inclined with respect to the gap on the tape sliding contact surface, no pseudo gap is formed. Moreover, since the nonmagnetic layer of the multilayer magnetic film is not exposed at the portion forming the gap, the gap can be formed accurately.

For example, as shown in the enlarged view of FIG. is provided on the tape sliding surface 6 so as to be inclined with respect to the gap G. This coil 10 is wound around the multilayer magnetic film 2 using the coil window 9. In the case of this embodiment, the coil window 9 is located between both core halves 1a and lb.
Although the magnetic flux transmission efficiency is improved by using a double-window type formed symmetrically, the present invention is not limited to this, and a single-window type may be used.

If the film is to be formed on both sides, it should be divided in half. The core half 20a coated with the non-magnetic material 4 and the core half 20b not coated with the film are bonded with molten glass 5 so that the multilayer magnetic films 2 are butted against each other (glass bonding: Fig. 3 (see (E)), and one core block 1
form. Although this core block 1 is not shown,
After that, the tape sliding surface is cylindrically polished to give it a curved surface, and the winding outer groove is machined to create a groove in the core opening corresponding to the coil window 9, so that the length of the winding can be shortened. After that, a large number of head chips are cut out by slicing so that the gap G takes a predetermined azimuth angle with respect to the tape sliding direction. After inspection, they are installed on a support head base and adjusted in the track direction as necessary. The wire is wound after finishing the sliding surface to improve familiarity with the wire.

A single-layer magnetic film 11 made of a ferromagnetic metal is formed on the single-layer magnetic film 12, and the gap abutting surfaces are made flat by precision lapping, so that a gap G is formed on the single-layer magnetic film 11. In this case, the single-layer magnetic film 11 is a film having a larger thickness than the magnetic film 2a.
This means that the multilayer magnetic film 2 and the single-layer magnetic film 11 have a sufficient film thickness to avoid magnetic saturation. In this case, a step of forming a single-layer magnetic film is required between the step of forming the multilayer magnetic film 2 shown in FIG. 3(C) and the step of forming the gap material shown in FIG. 3(D).

For example, the coil window 9 is not particularly limited to being formed in a hexagonal shape as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, but may be in an arc shape as shown in FIG. 4(B). It is preferable that the apex angle near the gap Daves falls within the range of 15° to 65'', and the coil 10 wound around the coil window 9 passes through the coil window 9 to the core as shown in FIG. Not only when winding the entire half body 1a, lb,
As shown in Figure 4 (A>), holes 12 or grooves are formed in the core halves within the range that provides sufficient mechanical strength for magnetization and winding, and the length of the winding wire is reduced as much as possible. It is preferable to keep it short.
