Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent static electricity generated on a film from being discharged to each terminal of a drive LSI by providing semiconductor elements and forming a conduction pattern so that the input/output terminals of the semiconductor elements and an interconnection pattern may be surrounded. CONSTITUTION:Discharge electrodes 2 are formed so that they may surround drive output terminals 41 and I/O signals and power supply line terminals 42 and connected with each discharge electrode 2. In this case, when they are mounted with a machine to install a drive LSI 3, the discharge electrodes 2 are connected with a grounding by way of a proper resistor since the electrodes 2 are installed, thereby discharging immediately static electricity, if generated on a film carrier, in the sequence of the discharge electrodes 2 and the resistor and the grounding. This construction protects the drive LSI 3 from breakdown.

Prior Art Conventionally, this type of film carrier has had a structure as shown in FIG. FIG. 2 shows a part of a film carrier on which a conventional driving LSI is mounted, and shows an output terminal 41 for driving the liquid crystal display panel connected to the terminal part of the liquid crystal display panel, input/output signals of the driving LSI 3, It has a power supply line terminal 42 and an additional electrode section 1 that is not connected to each terminal of the driving LSI 3 (in some cases, it may not be present). Further, a cutout portion 43 is provided to facilitate connection with a liquid crystal display panel. 4 is a film carrier.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention When the driving LSI 3 is mounted on the film carrier 4 using such a conventional film carrier 4, the film flows while rubbing between each machine.
Static electricity is generated on the film, and since it cannot escape anywhere, it is discharged to the liquid crystal display panel drive output terminal 41 and the input/output signal/power line terminal 42, destroying the drive LSI 3. There was a point.
