Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a liquid crystal display device from the leakage of fine radio waves through a liquid crystal display element by forming a transparent conductive film at least on the outside of one of two electrode base plates constituting the liquid crystal display element and earthing the conductive film. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal display element 1 is provided with upper and lower base plates 7, 8, polarizing plates 9, 10, a reflecting plate 11, a printed substrated 3, a liquid crystal driving circuit 2, etc. and the transparent conductive film 15 is formed on the outside of the upper electrode base plate 7 and earthed. To earth the conductive film 15, the conductive film 15 is contacted with a metal frame 5 and the metal frame 5 is contacted with an earth part of the printed substrate 3 or connected to the external case of the display element 1. Consequently, a fine radio wave flowing out from the liquid crystal is prevented from leakage through the element 1 by the shielding effect of the conductive film 15.

Hereinafter, one embodiment of the present invention will be explained with reference to FIG. Note that the same members as in FIG. 1 are given the same reference numerals, and their explanations will be omitted. A transparent conductive film 15 is formed on the outer surface of the upper electrode substrate 7 constituting the liquid crystal display element 1, and this transparent conductive film 15 is grounded. The method C of grounding the transparent conductive film 15 is, for example, by placing the metal frame 5 in contact with the transparent conductive film 15,
The metal frame 5 is connected to the grounding part of the printed circuit board 3 or to the case 12 shown in FIG. Alternatively, the transparent conductive film 15 is directly connected to the ground portion of the printed circuit board 3 or the case 12 via a lead wire or the like. As the transparent conductive film 15, it is preferable to use indium oxide with a trace amount of tin oxide added.

As is clear from the above description, in the present invention (according to this), in a liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal display element and a printed circuit board on which a circuit for driving the liquid crystal display element is mounted, C1 constitutes the liquid crystal display element. A transparent conductive film is formed on the outer surface of at least one of the two electrode substrates, and the transparent conductive film is grounded, so that weak radio waves of -C leak from the liquid crystal drive circuit through the liquid crystal display element. This is prevented by the conductive film, and it is possible to reduce leakage of radio waves from the entire device using the liquid crystal display device.
