Abstract

PURPOSE:To get rid of bleed of a plasticizer and a carbon to the surface of a tire which has occurred when a conventional silicone oil is used by using a room temp. curable silicone rubber as a lustering and protecting agent for an automotive tire. CONSTITUTION:A room temp. curable silicone rubber is used as a protecting and lustering agent for the surface of an automotive tire by coating the surface of the automotive tire with it. As this agent exhibits excellent UV resistance, ozone resistance and water resistance, the surface of the tire is prevented from causing crack and deterioration and the coating film on the surface of the tire exhibits adhesive properties providing a cured film with a rubbery elasticity over a wide temp. range of -55 to +200 deg.C.

When this silicone oil protectant is applied to the tire surface, carbon and plasticizer bleed onto the tire surface, turning it brown and giving it a dull color appearance. The tire surface became brittle and the existing small cracks on the tire surface were made to grow larger.

[Problems to be solved by the invention] Due to its properties, conventional silicone oil protective agents have no affinity for tire composition materials (rubber materials), and also have weak removability in terms of adhesive strength. Therefore, there is a drawback that the tire surface peels off during tire cleaning, and the present invention aims to provide a tire surface protective agent that eliminates this drawback of the silicone oil protective agent.

This room-temperature-curing silicone rubber is stable as a cured film (transparent film) in the atmosphere, and because it is a rubber material in the silicone rubber composition, it does not lose its elastic properties. When rubber is applied to the surface of an automobile tire, the silicone rubber and the rubber material of the tire material have an extremely high affinity, so the two have an extremely good relationship in terms of shear bond strength, peel adhesive strength, or tensile adhesive strength. This is to maintain the following.

As shown in the first figure, the silicone rubber S applied to the surface of the tire 1 (see figure (a)) becomes a cured film SG after a certain period of time due to the chemical properties of the silicone rubber itself. (b) This cured film SG becomes a transparent elastic film as shown in the figure, and exhibits a non-bubble-free adhesion state to the small cracks 11 on the tire surface and the rough surface 12 on the surface.
