Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an information storage card containing a card identification mark on its surface from being illegally used by providing a means to a card reader/writer to delete the identification mark of the card as necessary. CONSTITUTION:A card reader/writer is provided with a means which deletes the identification mark of a card 1. For instance, the identifying parts 4 - 7 of the card 1 are heated by a thermal head 25 and them melted away. As a result, the card 1 can be disabled in a simple way when the card is unnecessary or the illegal information, etc., are stored in the card. Thus it is possible to surely prevent such an inconvenient case where only the carrier part of information is illegally rewritten.
