When the printed books transferred on the stacker conveyor are stacked to a certain number and work such as banding and binding is added to them, the transfer of subsequent printed books is temporarily stopped until the work is completed. There are cases where it is necessary to perform a so-called cut-off operation to separate the prints from the previous group by leaving a space between them. For example, books printed by a printing press and discharged from a folding machine are transported on a stacker conveyor, and at the end of the conveyor device, they are dropped into a stacker in fixed quantities and accumulated. form an aggregate. This stack is then sent out to the next process (for example, a bundling process) by a sending device or the like. After the stack is delivered from the stacker, subsequent copies must be stopped on the running stacker conveyor until the stacker is ready to receive the following copies.

The end cutting device conventionally used in such a stacker conveyor device has a movable stopper member provided above the transfer path of the books on the stacker conveyor, and a fixed plate placed directly below the transfer path. ,
In order to stop any printing book being transferred, the stopper member is lowered and the printing book is pressed between it and the fixed plate. However, in a cut-off device with this structure, the pressed books are still receiving the driving force from the running stacker conveyor, so the following books pile up like dumplings, and the sheets are piled up again. There are problems such as bending, which causes trouble in the stacker, and rubbing against the belt, which stains the printed book. Therefore, it is desired to develop a technology to solve this problem.

The first conveyor 4 is provided with a slack adjustment device 7. The slack adjustment device 7 is designed to slacken the length of the endless belt 21, but it does not make the slackened portion free, but rather restricts the slackened state. That is, the guide rollers 13, 15 are attached to a movable frame 41 so that the rollers 12, 14, 16 at fixed positions can be displaced, and the movable frame 41 is driven by an air cylinder 42. Guide rollers 13, 1 driven by air cylinder 42
The amount of slack in the endless belt 21 is adjusted by the displacement of the end folding roller 9.
This is done in response to a change in the transfer length of the first conveyor 4 due to the displacement of .

In this case, the operating speed of the second conveyor is set higher than the operating speed of the first conveyor. The printed books are first transferred by the first conveyor 4,
At the end, the printed books 22 are dropped onto the second conveyor 5, and the second conveyor 5 transports the printed books 22 to the stacker 31.

Now, when it is time to cut off the printed book, the air cylinder 43 is operated to lower the clamping device 4, and the printed book 22 is clamped between it and the end folding roller 9. At the same time, the driving roller 38 is driven to pull the traction cable 33, and the endless belt 21 is operated while the end folding roller 9 attached to the movable frame 34 and the clamping device 44 are clamping the printing book 22 together. (Figure 2). At this time, since the operating speed of the second conveyor 5 is higher than the operating speed of the first conveyor 4, a gap is created between the preceding group of printed books 22a, that is, cutting is performed. In the case of displacement of the movable frame 34, the air cylinder 42 is driven according to the displacement speed to displace the guide rollers 13 and 15, thereby controlling the amount of slack in the endless belt 22.

When the cutting is completed, the clamping pressure of the clamping device 44 is released, and the drive roller 38 is reversed to return the movable frame 34 to its original position (FIG. 3). At this time, the slack adjustment device 7 is also returned to its original position.

In this manner, the stacker conveyor device of the present invention can reliably and easily stop the printing books on the running stacker conveyor, prevent the printing books from clumping together, and prevent the printing books from bending. There is no friction between the conveyor and the books.
