The developer collected in the collection container may not only be accumulated in the collection container until maintenance is performed, but also be sent from the collection container to a waste developer container outside the cleaning device using a conveyor screw, etc., or be reused. For this reason, it is sent to a developing device. However, in either case, a considerable amount of removed and recovered developer remains in the recovery container after the cleaning operation. Therefore, if the cleaning device is removed from the image forming device and tilted during maintenance,
There was a risk that developer would be scattered around from the opening of the cleaning device. Specifically, a conventional cleaning device as shown in a side sectional view in FIG. 1 is usually held horizontally within an image forming apparatus as shown in a front view in FIG. 2a. That is, the cleaning device 1 includes an opening on the front surface of the housing 2. An elastic blade 3 is disposed above the opening as a cleaning member. Further, a guide member 4 for guiding the removed developer into the housing is provided at the lower part of the opening. Therefore, the front opening of the housing is vertically regulated by the lower edge of the cleaning member 3 and the upper edge of the guide member 4, and becomes a narrow slit-shaped opening.

The photosensitive drum 6 is rotated in the direction of the arrow by a driving means (not shown). Latent image forming means and developing means (not shown) are arranged along the circumference of the photoreceptor drum 6 to form developed images on the photoreceptor drum. The formed developed images are transferred onto a transfer material 8 by a transfer corona discharger 7. Then, the residual developer 9 on the photoreceptor drum 6
is removed by the cleaning member 3 of the cleaning device 1 and guided into the housing through the narrow opening. In the horizontal state as shown in FIG. 2a, there is no fear that the developer 5 sent into the housing will leak out to the outside, but when the developer 5 is tilted as shown in FIG. There was a risk that it might leak out from the opening. or,
In this case, even if the developer does not leak out, the uneven state of the developer will not be completely resolved when the developer is returned to the horizontal state. For this reason, on the side where the developer is biased, a problem arises in that the developer that has been cleaned and removed is not properly collected from the opening.

That is, the present invention provides a cleaning device that includes a cleaning blade that comes into contact with a moving object to be cleaned and removes developer, and a collection container that has an opening facing the object to be cleaned to collect the removed developer. The cleaning device has a partition plate that restricts the movement of the developer in the longitudinal direction, and the partition plate completely partitions the inside of the collection container except for the vicinity of the opening of the collection container. It is.

The cleaning device 11 according to the specific example of the present invention is similar to the conventional one in that it has an opening in the front face of a housing 12 that forms a developer collection container, and a cleaning member 13 and a developer guide member 14 are provided in the opening. be. In this housing 12, as shown in FIG.
Separate the partition plate 1 with an appropriate gap in the contact line direction of the cleaning member (i.e., the longitudinal direction of the cleaning device).
6 1 to 16 3 are arranged. These partition plates restrict free movement of the developer in the direction of the contact line of the cleaning member. That is, even when the cleaning device 11 is tilted as shown in FIG. 4B, the developer in the spaces divided by the partition plates is biased within each space, so the amount of bias is small. Therefore, there is no risk of leakage from the slit opening. Furthermore, since the amount of developer shifted to one side is small, it is easy to eliminate the shift when the developer is returned to the horizontal position. Moreover, even if the developer remains unevenly distributed, there is no possibility that recovery of the removed developer will be hindered.

In this way, developer scattering during maintenance or movement of the apparatus is sufficiently prevented.

The dividing plate 16 that restricts the free movement of the developer in the direction of the contact line with the cleaning member (in the case of the illustrated elastic blade, in the direction of the lower edge line of the blade in FIG. 4a) is shown in the side sectional view of FIG. Thus, the cross section of the housing space is completely partitioned off except for the vicinity of the opening. In addition, the spacing of the partition plates shall be equal, and
It is also effective to change the ratio between areas where a large amount of removed developer tends to come out and areas where relatively little developer is removed. At this time, for example, the dividing space is made smaller in a portion where the amount of removed developer is small, and the dividing space is made larger in a portion where a large amount of removed developer is removed. It is preferable that the ratio of the removed developer volume to the space volume be constant in each space, since it is possible to eliminate partial concentration of the removed developer.

As described above in detail using specific examples, the apparatus of the present invention is excellent in that the recovered developer does not scatter during movement during maintenance and inspection. Moreover, since the recovered developer is not extremely unevenly distributed within the apparatus, there is no possibility that the removed developer will be improperly recovered during the cleaning operation, and it is an excellent device that always enables good cleaning.
