Abstract

PURPOSE:To satisfactorily deform erection pieces and stably deploy an air bag by arranging low-bending rigidity sections deforming the erection pieces when a module cover is cleaved at base end sections of the erection pieces erected from edge sections of the flat plate section of a retainer. CONSTITUTION:A retainer 10 has a module cover fitting section constituted of a flat plate section 14 fitted with an air bag 12 and erection pieces 16 erected from its both edge sections. Slits 30 serving as low-bending rigidity sections to deform the erection pieces 16 when a module cover 18 is cleaved are formed at base end sections of the erection pieces 16. When an inflator 28 is operated and the air bag 12 is deployed, the module cover 18 is cleaved along a tear line 28, and the air bag 12 is deployed. The erection pieces 16 are quickly folded along the portions of the slits 30. The module cover 18 is thoroughly opened to the side, and the air bag 12 is widely deployed to the side of the flat plate section 14.

取付部材であり、該リング26と平板部14の開口24
の縁部との間でエアバッグ12の開口縁部を挟持し、こ
れによってエアバッグ12がリテーナ10に固定されて
いる。28は前記モジュールカバー18に設けられたテ
アラインである。

ナに加えられる応力は低曲げ剛性部に集中するようにな
り、リテーナのその他の部分の必要強度を低減すること
ができる。
