PURPOSE:To improve a hot water outputting characteristic by a method wherein an upper layer pipe is made to have a larger diameter than that of a lower layer water pipe. CONSTITUTION:A heat exchanger 1 for an instantaneous hot water boiler is made such that water pipes are arranged in upper and lower multilayers and at the same time an upper layer water pipe 2A is made to have a larger diameter than that of a lower layer water pipe 2B, in which the large diameter part is formed at a hot water storing part 3. The upper layer water pipe 2A has a hot water storing part 3 having a large capacity, resulting in that a plug 8 of a hot water feeding port 7 is closed and a feeding of hot water is stopped temporarily and even if the hot water is fed out again, cold water may not be formed instantaneously. Even in case that the hot water within the hot water storing part 3 is not fed out, a part of a gas burner 9 is correspondingly interlocked with a temperature of hot water and ignited, or if the temperature of hot water is kept at a constant temperature by a heating source other than the gas burner 9, water having an appropriate temperature within the hot water storing part 3 is at first fed out even if the hot water is fed out any time, resulting in that it is possible to prevent cold water from being immediately fed out. ように使用温度の湯が出てくるまで長い時間待つ必要が
なく、立ち上がりの良い出湯を実現することができる。
